Not a good fit for me

I'm a strong Salomon advocate being on my 5th pair of the Speedcross that I use for hiking but these were not a good fit for trail running. I've consistently gotten hot spots on my heels and arch even on short runs (less than 6 miles) so I had to retire these pretty quickly. I pulled them out again 4 months later to give them another go wilth the same results. I would also experience some tingles from poor bloodflow since they were really tight. The quality is good, as was expected, and not saying they are bad but they definitely were not for me. I bought another pair of Altra Superiors in place of these

Bikepacking Shoes
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

I've used these for several thousand miles of cycling and rugged bikepacking. For flat/platform pedals with aggressive pedal spikes while spending hours crossing streams, pushing a bike up mountainsides, this is the best shoe I have found. I have bikepacked across New Mexico and Arizona numerous times with these including 100+ degree desert, dust-choked forest roads, and rocky singletrack in the alpine. These are stiff for power transfer, but flexible enough to walk around in, the lugs and flat sole are great for engagement with the pedals with litte/no slip, and the bottom material is tough enough that they haven't been torn to shreds by pedals studs. I also appreciate the quick-laces which mean they won't get stuck in pedals and the lack of waterproofing is always preferred for breathability and adaptability. My feet are wide (Altras are what I use for backpacking), but I found these decent for my bikepacking without feeling too narrow. Improvements could be making a wider version, increasing last/sole width for better pedal engagement, and maybe more mesh for even better dry times after water and mud submersion.
