2 out of 3 leaked on day one
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I have the older, better version of these. They're probably +/-8 years old, have never leaked and were a better design. I'll find another brand to replace these with.

A Unique and Functional Water Bottle Option
I have been using a variety of “soft” water bottles for several years. It all started with me wanting to minimize the volume in my day pack, so the self-reducing size of this bottle was a no brainer. I do treat them a bit more gently than my solid blocky water bottles, but they last for many years and I’ve never had a sudden catastrophic seam failure that soaked my pack. I prefer 2 or 3 half-liter bottles, that way I can make one electrolyte water and the other(s) plain water. I prefer the push-pull tops even though (as has been previously mentioned) they can be hard to open/close. But I consider that to be a feature not a bug b/c it insures the cap is less likely to open on its own inside my pack. Do bigger bottles have their place? Of course, especially for screwing on a water filter, but I’m always going to have a least three of these softies in my rotation. Recommended!

new Platypuss softbottle
Its just what the doctor ordered. Fits my existing filter. I wish i could of repaired the leaks in my old softbottle. I hate thowing out things that should be repairable. But the replacement was affordable i hope to get afew years out of it.

New push/pull caps all leak
I've been using these collapsible water bottles for years only replacing them when I've lost them. They last forever, fit in anything, weigh almost nothing when empty, and I've never had any problems with them, UNTIL... I couldn't get the closure cap bottles locally any more. I bought 3 bottles with push/pull type caps and every one of them leaks terribly. The threading is already warped from trying to close it fully enough to stop it from leaking. It gets all over the inside of my bag and leaked hand filtered water I filled it with during a backpacking trip into my pack and then again all over my tent when I knocked it over accidentally during the night. Do not buy the push/pull caps. It says it all in the name. Buy the "Closure" cap.

It’s catching on.
This is my second soft bottle. I only replaced the first one because I lost it. The push pull cap is a bit stiff but I think that’s just mine. Highly recommend! People always seem skeptical, until they see you fold it up and put it in your pocket or bag when it’s empty. Several of my friends have seen mine and have ordered them.

Jazz
Keep them in the freezer for storage, when not in use. You can boil them as well. Great for the outdoors. Watch out for eukaryotic organisms, though. Cheers.

soft-water bottle
I have been using Platypus water bottles for about 25 yrs. They are so handy - weigh almost nothing, fit in a purse and go flat when empty. Always carry a 1 liter (which I usually use as a hot water bottle plus 2 of the .5 liter bottles for drinking. I need to replace the .5 liter size, but I can't find them in the catalog now. Is that size not made anymore? I really like that size and use it the most, so I hope that it is still available!

The cap is hard to
The cap is hard to pull open but otherwise it works great. I carry two when upland hunting and that gives me and my lab enough water to keep on going. I have used the two liter platy for a long time and two of these work better for me.
