    Primed for active adventures.

Named after a versatile type of tool that has been used by humans from pre-history into modern times, the Patagonia Men's Adze Jacket offers multi-purpose weather-protection that makes it a must-have for any outdoor adventurer. It provides the right combination of stretch and breathability with wind- and waterproofing so you stay shielded from the elements without compromising performance or mobility.

Two-layer softshell stops wind in its tracks when you're on exposed walls and peaks, and it's DWR-coated to repel light rain and snow. Plus, it offers enhanced mobility and breathability to let you reach difficult holds while climbing and prevent you from getting bogged down with sweat on the trail. Adjustable cuffs fit over gloves in harsh conditions, and also allow the sleeves to push up easily without constricting your forearms when you get a little warm. When brisk winds try blowing in from underneath, you can cinch down the hem by simply pulling the cord inside the hand pockets, and quickly release with the cord locks at the side hem.

    • Versatile weather protection for climbing and hiking
    • 2-layer softshell fabric stops wind and resists precipitation
    • Jersey knit backer wicks sweat away from skin
    • Gusseted underarm panels allow better range of motion
    • Stretch cuffs fit over gloves and roll up easily
    • Flat-cinch, no-bunch hem seals out elements

    Good Value; Holds Up

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 215lbs

So I'm 6'0" 215 lbs; I'm a hiker with a weightlifter body. I bought a large, and I love the fit. There's enough room in here to fit a midlayer without being too tight. The longer arms give coverage for alpine sun and make it easy to hide the hands in the storm. I'd say the fabric shuts down ~80% of the wind... which is nice (some breathability, some wind blocking). The stretch is good, helps with the fit some. I've hiked maybe 200 miles under heavy weight (40-80 lbs), and the shoulders and back show no wear, no pilling. The jacket survived a GORUCK event, cleaned up perfectly afterwards. The only whining I have is I wish I had another pocket (chest or sleeve) and that this is the lightest navy blue ever. The jacket is just warmer and lighter in color in person than you see online. It's also notably lighter than other Patagonia Navy Blue jackets. Weird, but not a deal-breaker. She's seen rain, sleet, ice, wind, 14ers, and heavy logs on the shoulder. Performs great.

    Seems quality, but too Large

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 180lbs

Not sure if I just got an odd unit but this jacket ran about 1 size too big for me. I typically wear a medium and this hung all over me; shoulders too wide, body too wide, and sleeves to long. I get that there should be some room for layering, but this is a bit excessive. Unzipped I could overlap the jacket on itself about 4 inches.
Also, again not sure if I just got a bad jacket, but the zipper was giving me a ton of issues right out of the box.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Here is a review from my dad after he received it as a gift: : This jacket is great for cool, breezy days and the style/quality classic is Patagonia. I am 5' 9", 190 lbs and the Large fits great in the shoulders and chest, allowing easy movement. The sleeves are a bit long, but roll up easy. Only issue I have is the zipper often gets caught in the fabric, making it tough to unzip

    its ok

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Its alright. Its stretchy, fairly warm, blocks wind, and really durable.I use it for rock climbing and I've dragged it through chimneys and climbed cracks with it and it isn't looking beat up at all. The only thing i dont like is the cuffs on the sleeves. its a small detail that almost ruins the jacket. They arent very elastic so they always drop over my hands and make it hard to climb and they cant really be pushed up you're forearms because they just slide down. I wish i had gotten the hooded version which has Velcro to hold the sleeves in place

    Good but was return

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

The quality of the jacket was great. I just didn't like how it fit on my near the neck area. I ended up returning this item and bought the hybrid hooded one.

    2 Thumbs up!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Medium

Great soft-shell with nice flex and windstopper action. I have a 40" chest and 31" waist and went with a Medium. One of the things I like the best is the shell's resistance to abrasion. It has a more durable feel than a nylon soft shell so you do not have to worry as much about the material tearing if it gets snagged on a tree branch for example. Patagonia's gear is always worth consideration. NF Apex Bionic would probably fall into this category as well but I preferred the Adze Hybrid.

    Great softie

Great jacket. Perfect for skitouring and climbing. The high pockets are great for keeping out of the way of your harness. it is a superb outer layer for moving hard in cold weather. I routinely layer this with a R1 and baselayer for temps down to single digits and am fine once I start moving. The slim cut keeps things close and enables you throw over a belay jacket or other puffy piece to stay warm at the transition or snack breaks. Superb product. Highly recommend it.

    Great softie

    Very nice jacket

I bought the green and it looks sharp on me. The stretchy fabric is one of the best features as it moves with you; it's not constricting. It's summer so I can't attest to the wind blocking or warmth yet. I'm also very happy with how quickly exchanged a large for the medium when I ordered the wrong size. (You need to be about 6'3'' and 200 pounds for a large I think)
