    A workhorse of a backpack.

Not only will the versatile Comet Backpack by Osprey hold all your schoolwork, it will also store the gear you need for a day on the trail. Padded pockets for your laptop and tablet, stash and side pockets for water bottles, and a front panel organizer bring a whole lot of convenience. Made with Spacer mesh, the back panel and shoulder straps ensure proper airflow and comfort whether you're sprinting across campus or strolling down the trail. The backpack's nylon fabric is durable enough to stand up to years of use, and there is a removable waistbelt to give you extra support if you need it. Compression and bungee straps keep the contents of the pack stable when you're getting after it.

    Very nice

Bought this for my 12 year old primarily for school. Plenty of room, well organized and comfortable. Hasn't used for hiking but would seem like it would double well for that too. He loves it. Good choice.

One day pack to rule them all

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this to use as a day pack for hiking, but I have ended up using it every day for work. It has a nice laptop sleeve, bottle holders that fit one liter nalgene bottles, compression straps, and more zippered compartments than you could shake a stick at. There is one small pocket which is the perfect size for phone, keys, etc. There is plenty of room to carry all my stuff, and it is comfortable on my back. I would be remiss if I did not mention the fabulous customer support from backcountry. The backpack was sent to the wrong address - I had moved and not updated my address. It was totally my fault. But backcountry did not hassle me about it, and shipped out a new one immediately. Very impressed with this company. They treat their customers right!

      Osprey 24/7 Product Tour

Check out the features of the 24/7 series, including the men's Comet. The women's version of this pack is the Celeste, which has a shorter torso for a better women's fit and also a different color pallet. Emjoy!

      great backpack for that middleschool

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

loved this backpack for a middle school. everything he needs fits. hope it lasts until high school

Thank you for the review - My son uses the Comet asim not well and he is in 7th grade. The only thing I can think of for him not using it in high school is when the updated ones come out... there is always a "ooooohhh!" factor! Still, the Comet will last him a good long while, AND it has the Osprey All Mighty Guaranty !! Enjoy!

      Good work work and play

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this bag for a recent trip to Yosemite (which was awesome by the way) and this pack did not let me down. I have the osprey atmos 50 which was too big for my day hike which was the reason for the purchase. It is a great day hike bag. I was able to carry all my camera gear safely. Great side pockets for hydro flask. The many compartments were cool as well. And of course, Osprey is always great quality! I also take this to work from time to time. Great protection for my laptop with plenty of space to spare. Overall, a great pack to use either for work or the outdoors. Comfortable, spacious and comes with the great Osprey guarantee. No regrets to this purchase.

      Good work work and play

      Great for work & biking

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I did a typically lengthy and unnecessary amount of research before going with this backpack (and Backcountry) and I'm damn pleased with both. I've had it for about 3 months now. I mainly use this as my work bag and I commute by bike. This bag fits the bill perfectly. Laptop compartment is well padded, lunch fits easily in the middle compartment, top and bottom straps help to keep everything snug, height-adjustable chest strap is perfect, shoulder straps and back are very comfortably padded and ventilated with no curious odors from daily sweat bombardment (thus far), side mesh pockets are flexible, durable, and fantastic for both beverages and items that you might want to reach for without taking off the bag, zippers are tough and have never once snagged on opening/closing, light rain seems to be no problem, and this sentence is now much too long. The thing just feels rugged and well-built all around. It has worked perfectly for me as a weekend/mini-vacation bag as well. A couple 'bonus' features I figured out: (1) The slimming straps at the top can be clipped and unclipped, so I can 'hang' an extra bag from there when needed. I sometimes do this with the my soccer ball sackpack. Probably not recommended use, but it comes in handy. (2) The waist strap is removable. I literally just found that out when I came to write this review.

If I have one gripe, it would be that I would have liked some more organization options (small pockets/sleeves/etc) in front compartment - there is definitely room for a little more. That's very minor and probably specific to me. This fella gets an enthusiastic 5 stars.

      Great everyday backpack

My normal backpack for college, but I have also used it for day hikes. Holds laptop, books, etc. no problem with tons of room left over. Love the way it's laid out. Really comfortable to wear for long periods of time even in hot weather. Super durable too and handles weather well - a great all around day pack!
