    First Impression

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought the Orion 65 cooler not too long ago, and have used it on several camping trips already. Before buying this I had been using several old Coleman coolers. The quality/durability of this thing makes Coleman coolers feel like a cardboard box. I'm fairly confident you could throw this off a building and it wouldn't break. So yes, it's burly.

As far as insulation goes, it's also FAR better than other cheap coolers. Ice lasts for days. Ice will melt of course, so plan on adding ice to the cooler every day or two if it's hot outside. I kept it in a very hot truck and the ice didn't melt much. It also has a great plug on it so you can drain the cooler without having to tip it over. Overall, very satisfied with the insulation.

The cooler is very heavy when full. Don't plan on carrying this thing very far. I take it in and out of my truck, and that's about it. Get a smaller cooler if you want to carry it places. We don't mind the weight because we like the capacity and the ability to use it as a step/chair/table.

Orion or Yeti? I haven't owned a Yeti, but I've done my fair share of research before getting this cooler. The consensus I've come to is that they are both great coolers and will keep ice frozen for the same amount of time. That being said, the Orion comes with features that the Yeti coolers do not (sold separately). Also, the 65 liter Orion is a true 65 liter, the Yeti is smaller. The reason I went w/ an Orion is because it comes with more features, it's more colorful, and it's roomier.

    Incredible cooler.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this bad boy for extended road trips and week-long camping out of my car. It's extremely well built, but without being too cumbersome or heavy to carry a couple hundred yards to your camping spot. Love the grippy traction pad along the top - works great for sitting, especially around backyard gatherings and campfires.

Haven't tested out the longevity of ice preservation (only used i once for a day), but I'm assuming it'll keep things extremely cold for quite some time, just by looking at the impressive amount of insulation within its design. The locking mechanism is also extremely sturdy, so you won't have to worry about it coming loose or smaller animals getting inside and stealing food when you're camping.

    Coolers everywhere.. but wait..

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Somewhere along the way in the outdoor industry, coolers have become a status symbol. It seems like every year someone is coming out with the next great thing in coolers. Or, so I thought. The guys over at Jackson Kayak have really set themselves apart with Orion coolers.

These things are rugged, versatile, and just flat out look cool.

Rugged? Crazy durable construction with aluminum fittings. Theres no breaking those bad boys.

Versatile? With the integrated rail system, you can mount everything from fishing rods to cup holders right to the side of the cooler. They also feature integrated bottle openers and a padded top for standing / sitting in comfort.

Look cool? Well, you either love the camo or you hate it. Personally.. I LOVE IT!

Oh, did I mention that these things are build right here in AMERICA?! You cant go wrong there.

    Coolers everywhere.. but wait..

    Well thought out! Super innovative!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Orion coolers are focused on solving problems. Starting with adding more thickness and insulation to their coolers, then flushing all the latches and handles so they don't get caught and then adding on very cool tracks that allow you to add any RAM mounts you want (cup holders, cameras, GPS, rod holders). They also have reinforced corners (metal!) and 6 tie down points so you don't have to strap across the top. A standing pad is included (unlike others) and its has a tray that comes with a light!

    A superb product!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have an Orion 65 and must say it is an exceptional product. Not only is the ice retention all its made out to be, the features that set it apart from the others are not just novel, but truly useful. The metal corners are not only bottle openers, but allow me to lock the cooler in the bed of my truck and be able to access what's inside. With a separate lock I could lock that too, but if someone wants to steal my beer, they can have it! But not my cooler. Everyone loves the cool colors, so much more fun than white. When the 45 is available I'll be getting one of those too!!
