Why We Like The New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro Mid Wide Hiking Shoe
No, hiking boots don't need to be heavy or made with brown leather—the New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro Mid Hiking Boot is lightweight and trail ready. The synthetic uppers are lightweight and well ventilated for comfort while the midsoles have stolen the Fresh Foam X cushioning from New Balance running shoes to give the Hierro a light and cushy ride. We like this boot's wide size and love its premium Vibram Megagrip outsoles that let us take on dry or wet trails with confidence.

Excellent Walking Shoe
I do wear NB running shoes but bought these as a hiking shoe. My first outing on a wet and muddy weekend was a decent test for them. The goretex worked very well despite a few deep puddles, grip was very good too. Much more comfortable than a traditional walking boot, very pleased overall.

Comfortable and plenty of grip on the sole
Shoes are comfortable and just the right ruggedness needed for my hikes and disc golfing.

Comfortable, warm, but poor build quality.
Very disappointed in longevity of these shoes. I bought these last April but didnt start wearing them until September. After only 6 months of moderately light use the toe box side seam of my right shoe has completely come apart. I have had Wolverine and Merrel boots 3x longer that I have wore the soles out on before a seam has given out. I was considering the low top Hierros but now looking at other brands.

Ok
Comfortable but to wide gets uncomfortable towards the end of the day and could use more heal support.

Underwhelmed
Not very comfortable and not very pretty. Design is not of a new balance shoe, regrettably

To tight toes
The toe box is too small and the Gore tex lining rubs the top of my foot right at the ankle. Even when tied loose. Other than that they perform well. Should have bought a wide width shoe.
