Baffles hurt

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
True to size

I found the shape and size of the baffles very painful to sleep on, even over a foam base, the wavey shape feels like wooden rollers after a few hours, also difficult to roll up small when putting away. Shame it’s a nice looking product and I’d hoped to like it.

This review is based on my initial (living room) test alongside two other mats - one was a nemo air mat, and while super light, it felt too lightweight for someone with my clumsiness level, and overall, the comfort level was meh. I opened this one up in my living room along with the Therm-a-Rest Prolite Apex SI pad. I pulled the SI valves on both, and while the Prolite sat there, waiting for me to intervene, this Nemo sprung to life. It crinkled and unfurled, leaving me only 3 breaths to add to reach its desired state of fluffiness. Once I laid on the 2, the difference was clear - this mat is *ridiculously* comfortable. I was shocked at the difference! I anticipate lots of comfort in the backcountry thanks to this mat. It was painless to deflate (The valve system really works great on this thing), and easy to replace in its stuff sack. Looking at its packed size - I don't love it. Guiding youth trips, I will inevitably end up carrying extra gear for the kids, BUT - this thing is surprisingly lightweight, and given the excess of lush comfort, plus the 3.3 R-value, I'm happy to just strap it to the outside of my pack and call it a day. I ordered it in a Regular Wide - length was great, width was even better. I toss and turn a lot in my sleep and realized that after gaining weight this last year, I'm kind of over just dealing with the discomfort of having my arms fall off the edge.
