    Ready for anything.

Whether ducking out of bounds, knee deep in a multi-day backcountry tour, or pushing to the top a a big-mountain objective, the Mystery Ranch Patrol 45 Pack is a burly, rough-and-ready option for tackling the fresh and staying safe while you're at it. Besides coming standard with A-frame and vertical ski and board carry options, the Patrol 45 features a specially designed avi-tool compartment that lets you stay organized and ready should you need to deploy your  shovel and probe in the advent of a slide. The durable Cordura nylon is tough enough to take a licking from your freshly tuned ski edges, and the fiberglass reinforces the whole pack, making it strong enough to carry loads up to 50lb. And to top it all off, the rear-entry zippered back enables easy access to the Patrol's central compartment when you're all rigged up halfway to your objective, so you don't need to de-rig the whole thing just to get at a snack or extra layer.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been using MR bags since I was in the military and whether you're on a mission in Africa or hiking your local trail they are absolutely bomber. I pretty much exclusively buy their packs just for the frame system. It's adjustable for any back and once it's dialed in its just awesome. This pack is no different. The frame is killer and the sole reason I bought it.

That being said there's some things to note. First, when you're using the helmet stick-it you can't carry skis diagonally. Also, there's really no good way to carry an ice tool so this bag doesn't double well for ice climbing. Lastly, there is no sleeve on the shoulder straps for a camelbak so you are left with an exposed tube if you go that route.

These are my three main gripes with the bag although its still a great hut trip pack and as stated above, I only bought it because I love their frames. Don't regret it, but there's some room for improvement in my opinion.
