Easy to use

This little stove is really easy to use...simmer to boil, it does it all. Get the can stand as an add on to make the stove more stable...it will save you time and worry when cooking on uneven surfaces.

On a motorcycle you are in a position to keep your gear pretty light. This is a beautiful, amazing tool to guarantee a hot meal and allow for that extra blanket in my panniers. Love it!

ever the tinkerer, thought I'd try out a Vargo BOT (c'mon BC--stock it) with a butane stove and this little unit ticked all the boxes for the heat source. I can get this, lighter, canister, 'legs' (pinched off my jetboil) etc all in the BOT. But--I may as well take my jetboil as it would function the same and size is about the same. Beauty of the BOT, is you can store (sealed) 1L of water in there on the trail and then cook in it and eat of out it (its a Ti pot with a sealing, screw top lid afterall). I have the Honaker bag from Bedrocks which holds the BOT (with water) and the fuel can/legs on top inside the bag and mounts on the bike (I put it on the downtube of the frame). The little carry case for this stove fits just about anywhere--for me, for now--pushed into the nose of my framepack. I expect years of use to come.

Good Little Stove!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Folds up nice. Boils water & heats food quick. Survived daily use on the Allagash & several multi day hikes. I usually light mine with a ferro rod that I nest with it & an 8oz fuel tank in a Toaks 1100ml pot. Comparing it to a buddy’s deluxe version, I think I would buy the deluxe version if starting over (more powerful & has igniter built in). If you are ultra light this model may be for you.

What a perfect stove for backpacking!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
There is nothing like s'mores to watch the sunset at the living room hike above red butte gardens or scrambled eggs up on top of mount olympus. The MSR Pocket Rocket works great. I wish it still came with the piezo ignitor... Get a titanium cup to go with it.

Great for backpacking!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been using the MSR Pocket Rocket for most backpacking trips. It boils water quickly and efficiently and is reliable, even in bad weather/cold conditions. I like to use the MSR mugmate in conjuction with this stove because I like a hot cup of coffee in the morning. Check out my video on the stove in action to boil water and make coffee.

Great Backpacking Stove!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I bought the MSR Pocket Rocket 2 about two years ago. I really like how compact this stove is. I've used it in alpine conditions, windy conditions, wet/stormy conditions and in temps way below freezing with great success. It boils water really fast, 1 cup in about 45 seconds and 1 liter in 3.5minutes. The stove is fuel efficient, lightweight and easy to use! It fits perfect into my pack! I would not go backpacking without this stove!

Small & Light, medium performance
- Familiarity:

Well-made, lightweight, compact. Compared to some other stoves, it doesn't boil the fastest but that's in comparison to stoves with bigger burners. Great for what it is.

Great Design & Simmer Performance
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I have had a Jetboil zip for many years and have recently become frustrated with its "full blast only" operation, as I've been trying to up my camp cooking game. I needed something that could pack down at least a small and have reliable burner modulation for simmering. I originally wanted to get one of the very cheap pocket rocket (1) knock offs or similar from ebay/amazon, but they did not pack nearly as small or could not simmer like I wanted. So far the PR2 performs great, at least as powerful and fast-boiling as the jetboil (using jetboil pot) with smooth and steady low simmer adjustability. Still a solid value when bought on sale, considering the build quality, performance, and reputation for reliability.

Very dependable stove in a miniscule size. More stable than you would think. Great size for coffee pot or 8 - 9 " pans. Lots of bang for your buck!

Love it
Bought this for my son in law, he said he uses this when he does solo backpacking trips because it is so lightweight. He said that you can't go wrong for the price.

This stove is amazing, so incredibly lightweight and efficient, perfect for backpacking, when we want a fast hot meal at the beginning and at the end of the day, without the use of a camp fire for cooking. So easy to use.

Super Light and Packable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Have used this stove many times for camping/climbing trips. Very light and packable. Heats water/whiskey cider super quickly and pretty decent for cooking too. Only downside is it heats the bottom of your pan a little to centrally, not great at heat distribution. Still makes a mean egg sandwich in the backcountry though!

Hi Jon, Great question! You can use any branded propane/butane fuel mixtures. MSR, Primus and Jet Boil are all great choices for a fuel for these stoves since they are blended to work in cold temperatures and give consistent output through the life of the cannister. Let me know if you have any more questions by emailing me directly at mbova@backcountry.com.
