Why We Like The Stretchdown Hooded Jacket

Positioned as one of our favorite technical midlayers, the Stretchdown Hooded Jacket is great for layering under a rain jacket on a blustery hike, or wearing on its own to the brewery. The 700-fill goose down effectively traps warmth, breathes with us, and packs down easily once we switch from belaying to climbing.

Love it but it needs work

Love it but it needs work. Super comfy and stylish, and great as a mid or outer layer with nice durable face fabric. But the stretch baffles, while integral to the features of this jacket, are also a major issue. The down will not stay around the shoulders, or even the top of the hood, this rendering the jacket almost useless in terms of reliable warmth. If the construction changes to address this I imagine the “stretch” feature might also be compromised but I really hope it’s figured out because I do love this jacket and would love to have a version that doesn’t lose heat as it rises! I warrantied my first jacket, there was nothing that could be done but I spent my credit on another one, and I’ll do what I can to keep the down from migrating… I liked it that much!

Nice coat for hiking

A nice coat for winter hiking, I sized up from my usual medium to be able to fit more layers underneath. Wish it was waterproof like my other MH coat that lasted me several years, waited for it to be on sale to purchase due to this- otherwise it felt overpriced for what you were getting.

Warm puffy for city/casual wear

Got this jacket to save my Ghost Whisperer from wear & tear when not in the mountains. It's warm, water resistant, and true to size, though slightly shorter than I expected it to be. Wore it recently on a work trip with temps below -10 C, and it kept me warm. Would recommend for wearing around town, car camping or traveling, but not for ultra-light climbing/mountaineering.

The perfect “puffy” jacket!

The most comfortable “puffy” jacket I’ve ever owned. It does have some stretch, and the hand pockets have a soft material that’s so cozy. It does not have a noise swish when you walk and the hood is very easy to stay on.

Perfect jacket

This jacket is the best, I used it in Colorado on a snow snowshoe adventure in Rocky Mountain Park in February. Kept me dry and warm against negative temps. Light weight and warm, better then bulky puffy jacket. The sizing is accurate.

Fantastic jacket!

Very, very nice! Love the stretchy fabric. Enough down to feel warm on a cold day in Minnesota but not bulky! The color is fantastic and the irregular non-classic down quilts look great! My daughter loves it!
