Very comfortable, but impractical field shirt

Most comfortable flannel shirt I've ever worn, but I bought it for a field shirt, but it doesn't have chest pockets - which never occurred to me that there may not be pockets on a flannel shirt. Consequently, there is no place to put a pen next to the body to keep it warm for taking field notes on a cold day.
