On piste, off piste, wherever you want to ski.

The Mammut Men's Stoney HS Jacket transitions from backcountry to resort with ease. Its waterproof breathable DryTech membrane and fully taped seams keep you dry when it's snowing on steep skins or chairlifts to the top. A three-layer construction makes the Stoney thinner, more breathable, and longer-lasting compared to two-layer shells.

Mammut equipped the Stoney with zippers under each arm for ventilated airflow, and both the hood and powder skirt are removable for customized coverage in snowy or sunny conditions. The hood stows inside the collar for convenient storage, just in case it starts snowing again. There are Lycra hand gaiters with thumbholes, zippered external pockets, and internal pockets designed for goggles and electronics.

    Great Ski Shell

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 192lbs

Well made and has been durable. Good pockets. Orion color a nice blue that harmonizes with my karma. Everything I wanted for a resort and side country shell. I am sized on the cusp of L vs XL generally but like most things Mammut I needed XL in this especially to allow for layers.

    Simply Stellar

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 190lbs

The first thing that struck me about this jacket was the superior construction quality and the spot-on fit. The second thing was the fact that this jacket is simply impervious. Nothing gets through it - not rain, snow, or wind. This is my go-to ski jacket for all conditions. All I do is vary the midlayer that I wear under it based on the temperature.

    Great Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 185lbs

Overall a great jacket. As one reviewer noted it’s a tad on the smaller side. I went up a size as I’m borderline medium/large. I’m 5’9” 185 lbs and the large fits perfectly allowing ample room for heavier layers on cold days, stowing a water bottle and snacks in the pockets and getting the zipper all the way up without feeling constrained.

Love all the pockets. Let’s you take a lot of different things up with you without having to use a backpack.

    Very tight around the neck/face

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I'm 5'10", weigh 170, wear medium sized shirts and coats. I really liked this jacket until I zipped it up completely and it was a battle to get it over my chin/mouth area with a size medium. Large size was too big everywhere else. If you plan on using a neck gaiter or scarf don't plan on being able to zip the jacket up completely without feeling like you're choking. If you are thin guy with a tiny head, this is the jacket for you!

Great Ski Jacket - Very well thought out

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this on sale at the end of last season and have used it for a bunch of days skiing. It is true to size (I got XL and am 245lbs) and I usually wear XL.

    1. The feel. The inside is really comfy and fully taped. It's a step up from anything I have ever used before.
    2. Pockets! I hate skiing with a backpack. I can carry everything without one with this jacket. Just for reference here are a list of the pockets and what I use them for:
2.1 Chest pockets x2 - They are deep and I use them for my phone, a hip flask, chap stick etc.
2.2 Handwarmer pockets x2: I fit a APS-C camera in one (Sony A5100 with kit lens), and snacks in the other.
2.3 Pass Pocket on the arm
2.4 Internal pocket / media pocket - I just put my wallet and keys in here.
2.5 Dump pocket for goggles etc.
3 Hand Gaiters - I love hand gaiters and definitely wanted a jacket with them.
    4. Removable Snow Skirt: I use a snow skirt. I like that it can be removed though.
    5. Packable, removable hood: Gives you lots of options different weather conditions, and allows it to be a bit casual if required.
    6. Pitzips - the first ones I have not required someone to help me with
    7. the soft fabric at your face makes this jacket really feel good when zipped all the way up.
    8. No / Minimal padding. I live in california - skiing here can be super warm, or super cold. There is plenty of space for layers and I can choose how warm it needs to be..
    9. Performance. This really does keep the wind out well and does well to not be in the way when you are shredding.
    10. Styling - its good enough that you can wear causally off the slopes.

    Some minor complaints.
    1. one of the popper buttons on the snowskirt came off - just replaced it myself.
    2. My previous jacket had an integrated face mask that I miss a little

That's about it! Definitely a great buy!

    Well designed ski jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'11"
    • Weight: 170lbs

After returning 2 other jackets I was finally pointed to the Stoney by one of the salespeople. He was a bit smug on the phone but he got me to the right place so I guess it balances out.

This jacket is very well designed with lots of features I have not seen in other ski jackets. I've never owned a Mammut before but you can tell it's a high quality jacket.

If you are looking for a ski jacket with a removable hood you should consider this one. The powder skirt is also removable. I was worried about the hand gators but they don't get in the way at all. You can put your entire hand through easily so it works like a wrist gator that is hidden up the sleeve.

    Superior Shell Parka

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 175lbs

For this much money, it should be a very good shell parka and it is. Overall, there is great attention to detail in design and manufacture. The material of the parka is very resistant to wind and rain but not stiff. The hood provides very functional protection. I have not tried storing the hood in the collar. I have two concerns. I wish the inside breast pocket were larger to easily store my wallet (it barely fits, and I do not have a large wallet). Also the zipper is small making it difficult to zip/unzip without removing my gloves. Because it is a Swiss design, the zipper pull is reversed from traditional U.S. style. I have worn it for a winter but have only skied with it a few days. I am about to give it a good workout in Colorado where I believe it will serve me well.

    Good Dependable Shell

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Good weight. Waterproof. Nice lined, high collar. Keeps the wind out up in the ridge very well. Hood draw cords a bit fiddly though. Great alternative to my insulated jacket.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 245lbs

This jacket has a great soft feel, it was perfectly warm in the really cold resort days and opening the vents up helped keep me regulated on warmer days. The hood is really great, has a nice stiff brim, and just fits over my large Smith Vantage helmet, though some movement did pull it back down.

Pockets are great, the outer ones aren't lined, so they won't keep your hands super warm, but they'll keep them dry. I was putting my phone in the outer breast pocket so that I could access it and my Oneplus One barely fit in the hole. Once in, there was plenty of room, but I occasionally had to struggle with it to get the right angle to go through the opening.

The button snap connectors that attach to the pant buckles are pretty worthless. They do nothing to hold the powder skirt down and on the second day of use one of them even tore right out. Luckily I didn't lose it so I managed to sew it back on, and reinforced the other 4, so hopefully they won't break again.

Awesome Jacket - Color Slightly Off

    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

First things first... This is a well designed and helluva bulletproof jacket with all the bells and whistles you'd hope for when using it on the slopes. Unlike many other jackets out there, I particularly like the compactable fit of the hood when not in use.

Heads up that it fits true to size and has a slightly "technical" fit meaning that it hits at a normal point just below the waistline rather than offering a bit more length as some new school ski/snowboarding jackets do.

The only downside with the Graphite is that it is a slightly "vintage" Black and its zippers and logos are all a slightly different shade of red. Oddly, the chest zippers are a bold bright red, the main zipper is more of deep cayenne color, and the logos are a muted orange-red. As a result, it looks as if you may have already broken it in for a season, which may be a preferred look depending. This is not the case with the other colors of this jacket I saw first hand in a retail store which are bold and consistent in all regards.

Again, a highly recommended hard shell jacket for the slopes otherwise!

    Love, Love, Love this Jacket!

I ride mostly in the resort and do some backcountry. This jacket fits great (true to size - unlike some other Mammut stuff that can run small). It breathes well while I am skinning up the mountain. Can't say enough good things. One thing to note is the Mammut logo on sleeve and "Mammut" writing on back is actually orange and not red like the zippers.
