Arc'teryx who? Great value and quality hardshell!
The Mammut Meron HS jacket had been my go to hardshell for 2 seasons of climbing, backpacking, and winter mountaineering. I have put it to the test in some of the harshest conditions in the United States on the slopes of windy Mount Washington as a climbing guide!

Great Goretex Pro Shell
Have used this jacket for the 22/23 snowboard season in everything from -25*C in Colorado to hard core rain in the BC coast mountains. Has performed great in all conditions. Used as a strictly inbound jacket it does lack some of the nice touches such as wrist gaiters and pass pocket but for a jacket that can cover you both in bounds and back/side country it works great.

watch the sizing on this. I expected an athletic fit... but is very much so. Im 6'2" 170 and bought an XL size... I still have uses for this.. but was intending to use it for Alpine Touring. There is not enough room for layering for other than mild conditions.. will be limited with this in colder temps. Other than that.. is a great jacket.

A little lightweight for a winter jacket, I use my jacket in a cold ski town. It may be better in warmer conditions. Also, the jacket does not have pockets in the front where I normally keep my gloves

Good slim fit. Arms are long enough when reaching which is a plus. Can fit warm layers underneath without feeling bulky. Able to wear out in all kinds of weather this season and it's stood up to it all without issue.

Great color in the moutains
Amazing jacket, material feels very durable and seems are well sewn. The fit works for myself as I like to layer up with a shell (size M, 156lbs, 5'5). Only downside is the main zipper can be quite cumbersome to zip up. You really have to find the right spot to get it to work.

Great jacket for ski touring.
The coat is very packable and light weight. Windproof. I liked the size of the pockets (fits skins or iPhone 13 pro no problem), the red colour is bright and very visible... the pulls to tighten the jacket are well designed and thought of. Another great product from Mammut!

Very High Quality!
As usual from Mammut, this jacket is extremely high quality. The attention to detail is refreshing. I won't trust anything less that gor-tex pro in the Pacific Northwest and this jacket delivers every time! I trust Mammut to deliver on quality products and they have never let me down. This is my go to jacket for any activity above the treeline and provides peace of mind if extreme weather is even slightly possible. This thing is bombproof. A few things to consider when looking at this jacket: Sizing. I wear size medium in almost all clothing brands. I'm 6'1" 190lbs with an athletic build. I ordered a larg with the intention of being able to put this on over three layers, and it does so perfectly without being too bulky. It's slightly big if I only have one layer underneath (warmer weather) but I'm fine with the trade off. I do not think the medium would have worked with layers underneath. I find that European sizing is often slightly trimmer than North American, so going a size up here was perfect. Speaking of European design, the zipper is opposite from American designs. Not a big deal for me, just takes some getting used. Lastly, not sure if the colors on my monitor were off, but the "Spicy-Magma" looked very much red when ordering. It's very much orange. For those keen on Mammut color schemes. "spicy" is red, and "magma" is orange. "Spicy-Magma" is somewhere in between, leaning more toward orange in my opinion.

SWEEEEET shell
If you're on the market for a gore pro shell for an all around / mountaineering shell. There you have it. I love the cut, long arms, not too short on the bottom and plenty of room for an helmet. The two liiiiiittle downsides are that after two years of using, the cuffs' velcros are starting to pull appart and the main zipper is very sturdy, making it sometimes hard to zip in one motion (from bottom to top).

Great fit! Couple oddities
Fitment is great. I like the hood - good peripheral vision even with it up. Couple odd things - first the zip is reverse what I'm used to. More like a woman's jacket in the US. Taking a bit to adapt, but it works fine. Second, kind of wish I had regular pockets. I'm sure I'll get around to appreciating where they are when I'm in a climbing harness, but for regular use, it's a bit weird not having hand pockets. Zero issues with the build quality!
