The Mammut Flip Removable Airbag 3.0 is a low-profile pack built for our days riding the cat, short day tours, and heli drops (if we're lucky). This 22-liter pack holds food, water, and an extra layer or two so we can head out and earn some fresh turns when the resort gets tracked out.
We love that Mammut's removable airbag system stows in the top of the pack to leave room for more snacks, and that it can be taken out completely for summer day hikes or resort riding. Ski and snowboard carries make it easy to haul your boards while you're booting up a line, and the ice axe loop stashes your tools when you don't need them.

Excellent day touring pack
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I?ve used this a handful of times now, moving up from a Cotopaxi Tarak 18L for backcountry skiing in Utah. I actually used it quite a bit with the air bag removed for early season touring, but even with the air bag in, plenty of space for day touring, provided you have specialized, packable, gear. I have a packable down jacket, a packable shell, etc. My gear fit into the pack comfortably, but if you didn?t have that type of equipment it would be small. I love the compartment for avalanche safety equipment, although I wish it did have one more small pocket in it. The construction seems extremely solid. As other have said, spend some time figuring out the pack?s fit, and looking at every pocket etc. Overall great pack!

Great price point, but a few flaws
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
*Disclaimer, we haven't actually skied with the bag yet* Wanted this bag for airbag capabilities. On that front, it'll be great. Started packing it though, and noticed that the beacon, shovel, probe clang around a bunch. Also the straps are super long everywhere. Took some time to get to know the bag and understand the compartments/straps.
