This beacon has all the essential functionality and many features that make practicing with it in the backcountry especially intuitive. Luckily have not had to use it in a real avalanche situation but have trained with it and would buy again.

Work and play
Use this on the daily ski patrolling. Also have a personal one for recreation in the backcountry. Once you spend time and dial in the extra features it’s the best tool out there.

Barryvox S_uper Happy
Has everything I was hoping for and more - small, relatively straight forward (spend some time with it before heading out, duh), excellent range and orientation. Once you spend some time practicing with it everything is logical and effective. Beginners or those who don't frequent and maybe take short cuts on reacquainting, might look for something a bit simpler.

Best beacon
This is simply the best beacon you can buy. Reliable, durable and easy to use. Everything you need in a beacon without anything unnecessary. Highly recommend and won’t use anything else when life depends on it.

An amazing beacon
I love this beacon, I've been using it all season at work as a ski patroller. It's an easy beacon to use and I have yet to run into any real issues with it.

Solid, Reliable Beacon
Seems like a great choice for a beacon. Good features, reliable, and easy to use with gloves on. Hopefully I never have to use it!

Amazing beacon
This beacon is extremely easy to use. It's range is out of this world, and for Search and Rescue practice is absolutely perfect. My only complaint was, that the owners manual did not come with the product. I had to search it on line and it was not easy to find the correct manual that gave the advanced features.

Substantially increased pickup range vs competitors
I switched to the Barryvox S from a Tracker 3 and have noted that it routinely picks up an initial signal significantly further than other options, often 60m+, which gets you into course search mode much faster. One thing I have noticed with the Barrvox is that the refresh rate seems to be much slower than some other beacon options. This forces you to slow down during fine search and really be patient with your readings, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but is something to be aware of. The Pro mode has a lot of features that are really confusing if you don't practice with them. However, I really love the analog mode, even for recreational purposes because it allows you do easily demonstrate electronic interference to companions or guests. I don't think that warrants everyone getting the S version, but this feature is helpful even for advance recreationalists who may be mentoring newer folks.
