Light boot, perfect fit
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I have had these boots for about a month. They are warm, light and fit more like a cozy running shoe than a boot. I live in Michigan, and they keep my feet warm and dry. Very comfortable to walk in, super cute with leggings. Just a note, I am a small woman and these are perfectly snug. I purchased my normal size and can wear a thick sock. There is not a lot of leeway, even with the lace up front. I only weigh 106 lbs, so they may not work if you have larger calves.

Beautiful boot, but runs a half-size big

I was in search of new boots after a trip to Alaska where my Sorel's left my feet cold. There weren't many reviews on the Lowa Alba boot on backcountry, but the materials were impressive and I liked the side zip (which allows for easy on and off), so I took a chance. The boots are lightweight, stylish, and will hopefully be warm (given the Gore-Tex and wool lining.) I typically wear a 7 in boots, but had to size down to a 6.5 in these (and still have room for thicker socks if needed.) I haven't had the opportunity to wear these in cold temps yet, but am looking forward to my next mountain trip so I can put these to the test. For that reason, I am rating these 4 stars since I haven't been able to use them for their intended purpose, but I will update my review/add a new one when after I've used them in the snow.

Sturdy and grippy, but no foot bed?

So I've had these for a full year and never asked myself why my pair didn't have insoles. I was 6-months out of foot surgery and used my own custom insoles without a thought, but never questioned that maybe these Lowa boots should have arrived with their own removable insoles. The footbed is just a hard gray foam with no support. Therefore, minus 1 star for Lowa either forgetting to put them in my pair before shipping, or the boots were designed without them anyway which doesn't make sense and provides 0 support anyway. With all that said, the boots are super grippy on the soles. I was looking for something that I could use to shovel snow on my uneven driveway, or walk around apres ski, and these have decent hold on ice. I LOVE the inner side zip on both so I don't have to fiddle with the laces every time. My feet are on the wider side, so I sized up a half size. Sure I have a little room in the front now, but I can wear thick socks and I don't slide around inside them. I think they could withstand snowshoeing, but I haven't tried. Fit-wise, I don't consider myself to have big calves (probably slightly smaller than average, actually), but these are pretty snug. Very tight with anything tucked in.
