Get out whether or not the getting's good.
There are certain months when the phrase "get out when the getting is good" doesn't apply, instead, it should be said that you've got to get out when the getting is anything shy of unbearable. For the frosty winter months when the getting is anything but good, get out anyways with the help of Louis Garneau's Mid Season Hooded Jacket. There to provide you with soft warmth when the temperatures are near freezing, the Mid Season Hooded Jacket offers a cut built for riding, and tech features that will make you glad you didn't just reach for your standard cotton hoodie on you way out the door.
The Mid Season Hooded Jacket is built tough with Drytex 4002 fabric that traps heat and evacuates moisture to keep you comfortable when you get pedaling. It features an additional panel of Drytex over the chest, shoulders, and elbows where we're prone to catching stray branches and trail debris, so the hoodie can withstand season after season of riding hard. Since biking is, after all, a cardio activity, even in the winter it can get a bit sweaty, so Louis Garneau employs Polartec Highlander Mesh under arms for ventilation that still offers 4-way so you've got the freedom of motion you need.
The hoodie features a slim-fit hood designed for fitting under your helmet, trapping heat inside. The hood has a visor for shielding your eyes from bright trail glares when everything is coated with a blanket of white, and a slit on each side for you to feed your helmet straps through the hood to securely strap in without bulky fabric around your chin. Stash your gummy bears and beef jerky with ease thanks to two zippered hand, and one zippered chest pocket with plenty of room for essentials. When you wrap up your wintery ride, reflective details illuminate on the road to keep you safe as you head to the brewery for your post-ride porter and bison burger.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Unfortunately, I could not find my size here on Backcountry, so I had to order this jacket directly from Louis Garneau.
When it arrived, the fit in the arms was a little tight but that has loosened up after wearing it a couple times. A couple things I really like about this jacket are the hood and the thumbholes.
The (under the helmet) hood fits perfect. I've worn this jacket with a halo cap and it form fits around your head perfectly. It totally keeps the heat in on a chilly ride.
The sleeves are a little long but it works great so when you use the thumbholes, the sleeves cover your hands over your knuckles. If you wear gloves, the sleeves go over the gloves so no chill gets in.
Overall, this is a great jacket for when the weather is chilly. With a base layer or two underneath, you can go into the cold with this thing. I was riding in 44 degrees the other day and could hardly feel the chill on my upper torso.
