LEKI designed the Guide Lite 2 Carbon Ski Poles to excel in the backcountry. The hybrid aluminum-carbon construction keeps swing weight down on the up, and the wrist strap's quick-release mechanism keeps safety up on the down. The basket's long edge scrapes ice from our skins and its short edge quickly adjusts our risers, keeping us efficient on the climb, while the extended grip and adjustable shaft length boost security when the angle steepens.

Nearly a great skimo pole
This is nearly a great skimo pole. It is light and has a good point and basket for ascending. The locking mechanism is secure, with tool-free adjustment if more clamping force is required. The strap adjustment is quick and secure: a rarity with any type of ski pole. However, the grip is too big in diameter. Ideal ergonomics are well known from centuries of cross country pole development. Skimo is essentially cross country skiing with perfect grip so the grip should be vary little from a cross country ski pole. Minor defect: because of the non-circular basket it must be pointing back to make it effective. When one changes pole length one must align the lower shaft with the upper. There is a white line imprinted on the lower shaft to help with this. Unfortunately, the white line is interrupted with lettering at important points so the white line is less useful.

For fast and light ski touring
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These are my go-to poles for fast and light ski touring. The carbon aluminum hybrid keeps weight down while keeping durability high. I love the aergon air grip with the extension of the material down the pole. The rubber on the grip is easy to hold onto with gloves and the foam material down the pole keeps my hands warm and gives me options for other holding the pole when I'm traversing. The binding basket works really well from powder to ice. I love being able to adjust my poles - having them longer for flat approaches or exits and lowering them when it's time to drop in.
