CX332 Cycling Shoe

Sitting second only to Lake's customizable CX402 shoes, the CX332 Men's Cycling Shoes live up to their race-worthy reputation. Lake uses kangaroo leather to craft the upper, prized for its durability and suppleness for a fit that molds to your foot as you ridel.

Over the top, a dual Boa closures further enhances foot retention and ensures that not a watt is wasted when you crank on the pedals. By employing two Boa dials, Lake enables you to keep your heel locked down, without requiring undue pressure on the forefoot. And as you already know, that means better blood flow, and greater comfort.

Underfoot, Lake's CX/TX Race last is a little narrower in the toe box and heel than the Competition last found on Lake's CX237 for a streamlined, glove-like fit that minimizes excess foot movement and prevents hot spots. Combined with a feathery light and stiff full carbon fiber sole, and you have a shoe that efficiently transfers every watt of power output into the pedals.

  • A top-tier road race shoe
  • Race Carbon sole efficiently transfers power
  • Streamlined CX/TX last provides a secure fit
  • Supple leather upper molds to your foot
  • Strategic perforations and mesh panels enable cooling airflow
  • Dual Boa closures dial in the fit

Beautiful, Light, Stiff and Classy Shoes

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

I've worn mine for 6 or 8 rides so far and they are still breaking in, but I already love them. They are very stiff but very comfortable and growing more comfortable each ride. I have wider feet but am wearing the standard version, assuming the kangaroo leather will stretch a bit where it needs to. I have not performed the thermal fitting yet; although I plan to do that, I'm not experiencing any problems with heel slippage. The dual boa closures are excellent. Finally, they are very stylish shoes (mine are black). They are consistent with sizing in other shoes such as Shimano, but the sizing chart is a full size off. I'm a US 12 and bought a 47.

Thanks for your review on the size. I figured they would fit as other Euro sizes and ordered at 47 as well for US 12

Sizing and Time cleat compatibility

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I’ll start by saying that the shoes are very well made and very comfortable. The leather construction fits like a dream and I really liked having the wider toe box. However, overall I found these shoes to be very frustrating, and after several returns just gave up. Firstly, the sizing chart is way off. I usually wear a 44 in most shoes, but based on their suggested sizing and Lake’s foot measuring guidance it looked like I would need to size down. This was incorrect, and after several returns realized I needed a half size up from normal, and found a 44.5 to be similar to a Giro or Sidi 44. So finally having gotten the right size, I was then extremely disappointed to find out that Time iCLic/Xpresso cleats don’t work with these shoes. I realize that Time is a very niche product, but the shoe has a very shaped sole that doesn’t match up with the shape of the time cleats at all. Like, the sole doesn’t allow the shape of the cleat to seat properly, so you can’t even bolt them in. I tried three different cleat sets and none of them worked. Over the last 10 years I’ve never once had that problem with Giro, Louis Garneau or Specialized.

I wanted to make a comment on Competitive Cyclist customer support. I ordered a pair of these shoes and received then like the next day. I had realized that I needed the wide version but had left home. On return to home, I contacted them to tell them about changing my order to the wide version. Sorry, your order has been shipped then they explained that they do not have the wide version in my size. I returned the shoes. I ordered the wide version from Lake and two weeks later I'm still waiting on them. Thanks, guys for doing your job perfectly. Really wish I could have worn the standard size.

Comfy as house slippers

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This my second pair of Lakes. Wore out my CX331 after four years and thousands of miles. The new CX332 shoes fit & feel like an improved CX331. They are more adjustable (2 BOA closures) versus the 331s (1 closure). The CX332 should be a better winter shoe; not as ventilated as the 331s. The heel pad on the 332s is more robust & much improved over the 331s. Kangaroo leather can't be beat for comfort. If you're looking for an every-day shoe that will hold up and be the most comfy shoe you own --- this is it.

Fantastic shoe and service!

Familiarity:

For reference, I wear size 13 athletic shoes (Adidas and Nike). I first ordered the LG Course Air Lite (size 48) which was too tight, especially the toe box. Greg recommended I try Lake shoes so I tried the Lake CX237 in size 48 but it was too wide, especially in the forefoot. After writing Greg about this, we decided to try the CX332 since it is a narrower shoe. Greg sent me both a 47 and 48 so I could determine which fit better. In the 47, my big toe on my larger foot slightly touched the front of the shoe. In the 48, I had about 1/4 inch from my big toe to the front. My smaller foot had just slightly more room but it was not excessive so I decided to keep the 48s. I've ridden about 175 miles (30-40 miles each ride) in them and they have been nothing short of awesome. I've only ridden in Sidi shoes since I started riding about 15 years ago and I always just accepted that the toe box in cycling shoes would be constricting. This is not the case with Lake shoes and the difference is welcomed. My toes have room to spread out - it's not too much or loose at all. The carbon outsoles are stiff but the shoe is very comfortable. The quality and craftsmanship is also very good. I got the black shoes and they look classic. I have heat molded the heels twice - the second time to fine-tune the fit - and there is no heel slippage at all. The kangaroo leather uppers are soft and conform to my feet very well. The Boa closure system works flawlessly. I liked these so much I decided to buy a pair of Lake CX402s as well to have as a backup pair. I haven't ridden in these yet and I'll post a review about them after I put a few miles on them. Greg was very knowledgeable and remained polite and very helpful throughout the whole process. Buy - RMA - buy - RMA...buy... I can't thank him enough. Buy these shoes. You will not be disappointed.

I originally ordered in a 45.5 based on the reviews that I read but when I received and tried on I felt that my toes were bunched up and uncomfortable. I have a medium width foot and wear a size 12 in running shoes so I contacted rep and explained the issue and ordered a 46 in the same shoe and I am completely satisfied with the fit and how comfortable the shoes are even after 40 or 50 miles. I have Sidi Shot Carbon, Fizik R1 and Shimano T60 all higher end shoes and these are by far the most comfortable for me. The kangaroo seems to wrap around your foot and the carbon sole is one of the stiffest i have used.

I am 52 years and have ridden and raced bikes almost my entire life. As a former Cat 1 cyclist, I have tried and used many different shoes, including custom made shoes that are VERY expensive. A friend of mine, who is still very active in the sport recommended LAKE shoes to me and after an internet search I found them here at Competitive Cyclist. I contacted Kyle with a ton of questions as I was unsure of my size and decided to try the Lake CX237. When they arrived 2 days later, I tired them on and realized that this shoe was built on a slightly larger last. This was explained in the description. I wear a size 10 Nike running shoe so I ordered the 44. The shoe was about a full size too big in the length and kind of wide to my liking. I contacted Kyle via Email and we again talked and I decided to go down a full size, but I also decided to try the CX332 since the description says it is built on a little bit narrow last. I was expecting to pay for shipping to return the first pair, but Kyle sent we a UPS label. The next shipment was a pair of CX332 and CX237. The CX237 fit great in the length, but again I felt they were too wide for my liking as I like my shoes to be a little tight in the width. (Probably because I'm use to all of the other brands that are built narrow to start) . I then tried on the CX332. These fit great in the width, but the length was a hair too small. I again contacted Kyle and ordered a 43.5 CX332 and shipped back the other 2 pairs of shoes. I received the 43.5 shoes today and they fit prefect. It was like someone made them for me. I would like to thank Kyle for all his hard work in sending shoes back and forth for me and the great customer service I received from Competitive Cyclist. I will recommend you to all my friends when they ask me were to buy cycling products and you now have a new customer for life. I'll comment again once I have a few miles on these shoes. Thanks again!

I went through a similar situation, maybe one more return then you (I was also trying Sidis). Competitive Cyclist, and Tommy were very accommodative. Like you, I too started with the 237, and ultimately went with the 332 as it fit perfectly! For me, these are the best shoes!

Superb Shoes!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

I'm 60 years old and I've been cycling for 42 years. I ride centuries on a fairly regular basis. I'm of slim build, with a USA 10C, maybe 10.25C foot. I'm absolutely delighted with the Lake CX332 shoe. The size 44.5 is an excellent fit for me, in both width and volume. The carbon soles are nice and stiff, surprisingly effective, and perfectly comfortable. I've previously used the standard Sidi Genius shoe in size 44, which was a D width and was too wide and too large in volume for me. I've also test fit the narrow Sidi Genius shoe, which was about a B width and was too narrow and too small in volume. The Lake shoe's more square toe box was a better fit for me than the Sidi shoe, too. I'm now doing 70-80 miles rides regularly in the Lake CX332 shoes, with happy results. Andrew G.

second boa does it

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

I had a pair of the single boa 330's from last year. Great fit out of the box for my left foot, my smaller right foot not as secure without tightening to the point of mashing the wide part. Second boa solves this, and takes the shoes from very good to great. The kangaroo leather DOES mold to the foot, and the formable heel cup forms a pocket to keep my heel in place. Did 5000 miles in last year's shoes.
