Why We Like The La Sportiva TX Hike Mide Leather GTX Hiking Boot
Half approach shoe and half hiking boot, the TX Hike Mid Leather GTX Hiking Boot is a hybrid with a nimble feel and plenty of technical performance. Now available in abrasion-resistant leather, it's a lightweight hiking boot that can handle more technical trails, thanks to grippy Vibram outsoles with 5mm lugs and an Impact Brake System for better traction on dodgy descents. The GORE-TEX membrane keeps our feet drier while the new Comfort Fit last provides a little more toe room and volume than last year's version and La Sportiva's other styles.

I’m a La Sportiva fan, having enjoyed the fit, support and breathability of my pair of GTX Spires for a couple of years now. I’m not an athlete but I’m particular about my footwear, being someone who gets warm quickly, had spinal fusion surgery several years ago and a preference for a roomy toe box (with a genetic predisposition for a toe bunion). I have a favorite pair of winter boots that I use for hiking and snowshoeing but with a well maintained asphalt trail nearby I found a need for a sole that was thick enough to take a pounding, and these boots fit the bill. I had to go up a half size from my normal 7, causing the heel to slip slightly but the excellent lacing system counteracts this perfectly. The volume is roomy and so is the toe box. And these keep my feet comfortably warm without getting overheated. If I had a complaint it’d be for a more supportive insole but there’s enough room to switch in something else. An all around great boot!
