Lightweight shoe good for walking
Previous Bondi 7 shoe wearer and still have a pair left, but saw on line for sale Clifton 8. Brother in law wears them and said he had been happy with, so I decided to try a pair. So far so good, but I always add a fresh Dr. Sc..... insert as my foot soles need extra cushioning that no show provides me.

Go down half a size
I have run in every Clifton they've made. I was running in Clifton 7 in a 10 but for this version of the shoe I had to go down to a 9.5 to get it to fit right in the toe box. Going a little small is okay because the toe box has no structure anyway. And after about 100 mi it's going to stretch out and fit your feet. You are going to get comfort out of this shoe , but not high mileage. I have to throw these shoes out before they hit 300 mi because they are destroyed when they get there.

Purchase Hoka sneakers 4 or 5 times a year
HOKA Clifton sneakers fit great & very comfy. Tried couple different styles, alway come back Cliftons. Told many family members & people at work. They bought Hoka's and just love them. Will always purchase Hoka's.

Squeaky Sole
I'm a first time Hoka shoe buyer and found the Clifton 8 12.5 size mens shoe very supportive for me at 250lbs. The regular size was a bit tight or cramped along the span of my foot at the ball of foot section. I'm returning for a Wide 12.5 size to alleviate the discomfort. I usually wear a 13 UA shoe. I also had a squeak sound in the right mid sole of the shoe upon walking or jogging as if something was popping each step. No issue on left shoe. Hopefully the next pair will be better...

I returned 3 of the Clifton 8 not the same shoe I remembed.
The store is much stiffer than earlier models and not as cushioned. The colors weren't as expected.

Good Shoes, not great, but good!
I went from the Clifton 9's to the 8's as they were on sale. I put around 600 miles on the 9's, mixed running and walking, started to have pain on the outsides of my feet so I assume the interior of the shoes collapsed due to constant working. I don't expect them to last forever of course. The Nike Pegasus 37's gave out around the same time so one isn't better than the other, it is just a matter of initial comfort. I have a set of Hoka One Carbon X3 that I have yet to try as well. I am hopeful that they will last a bit longer but only time will tell. I will say the Hoka's feel softer on my feet when running compared to the Pegasus but the Pegasus feel lighter. Not sure the weight on either of them, just my personal opinion. back to the 8 vs 9, the 9 is worth the extra money but if you can find them on sale, it's worth it to buy two pair. I'll write a review for the carbons once I get into them but for now, 9's reign supreme, 8's are more for walking.

CLIFTONS ARE LIKE WALKING ON AIR!
I've tried and been loyal to lots of different branks over the last few decades (I'm 68 at this writing)--but being a TV News Cameraman, I've covered a lot of Marathons & Half-Marathons and in recent years I noticed that All of the Front of the Starting Line Pro & Serious Runners wore HOKAs. I was at the point of needing some new running shows--I am not a runner, but my job keeps me on the run!--and Fleet Feet Sacramento was having a sale. So I decided to try HOKAs. After only a day of wearing them on the job I knew it would take A Lot to ever go to anything else. Now on my 3rd pair in 3 years. For me, the Clifton 11.5" are the Perfect Shoes. Put a new pair on and it's like coming home. And the compliments I get on the colors! I love Orange and any combination of colors with Orange. HOKAs will get attention. And the feel--for me--of the Clifton is like--And Old Friend & Coming Home.
