    Kore 1 Ski Boot

You might mistake the Head Men's Kore 1 Ski Boot for an aggressive freeride boot built for resort only, but it's actually designed for the backcountry, which makes it all the better. Its 130 flex might be the stiffest selection out there, but its walk mode allows a 45° range of motion so you can tour the backcountry with ease. The walk mode's ratchet is so secure that a resort rider wouldn't know the difference between a resort-specific boot and this boot.

Not only is this boot seriously stiff for downhill riding and easily convenient for touring the backcountry, but the Kore 1 is also surprisingly comfortable for all-day backcountry touring. Unlike most boots, the Kore 1 comes in variable lasts that change depending on the size of the boot. The larger boots have wider lasts, and the smaller ones have slimmer lasts, which makes sense when you think about it. Not only are the sizes appropriate, but the liner is thermo-moldable to customize your foot's shape so you can ride all day if the snow's that good. The bottom of the boot features a Grip Walk rubber sole for traction when you're boot-packing, and there are tech inserts for backcountry bindings.

    Light and very comfortable.

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I bought this boot With the notion of using it specifically for side country and inbounds days, but ended up using it for all types of missions. This boot rocks! It’s light, plenty stiff for a touring boot, and as comfortable as it gets once you liquid fit the liner. As I first mentioned I had planned on only using it for side country and inbounds days, but due to how comfortable and light it is, I found myself in them on much longer days than expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the lightest boot, but what it lacks in weight savings, it makes up on the down. I spent 8 solid days touring in Canada in these (some 8 hr days) and never felt like I was straining to keep up. I highly recommend this boot if you are looking for a more alpine boot set-up that you can spend all day in, and not sacrifice performance on the down. The only con with this boot is it’s lack of forward flex while in walk mode. However, the lack of this is what gives it the the progressive flex that is so nice on the downhill.
