Taking over the blueprint of one of our favorite rod series—the Zephreus—Hardy's Ultralite Fly Rod still brings us that great all-around freshwater performance, but with all-new fly rod technology, top-tier componentry, and impressive versatility that's ready for any angling scenario. Made with Hardy's proprietary Sintrix blank, the Ultralite has an even lighter and more responsive feel than the Zephreus, providing us with more feedback and quicker recovery times without affecting the rod's strength. From the short 3-weight to the 10-foot 8-weight, this versatile rod series exemplifies the mastery of form and function we've come to expect from Hardy.

Buyer Beware made in Korea
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Hardy rods and reels are mad in Korea! The price they are charging they should be of better quailty and in England! Buy American made bc they actually care about the quality. You can find plenty of rods and reels for similar price that are crafted and sourced in the USA. Try looking at Winston rods and Able reels. Hardy needs to charge half the price if they want to make things in Korea where the material consistency is lacking. Lastly it should reflect more clearly online that they make this junk in Korea.

Fantastic
I purchased the 10ft 6wt configuration of this rod and I absolutely love it! Nice deep load in your double haul, you can really chuck some line out. Because it's so light, you can throw this thing all day long with little to no fatigue by the end of your day. Landed some nice Alaskan Rainbows on this rod and it performed beyond expectations. I stand by Hardy rods! Would like to see a weight chart in your description like your other rods listed on your website.

Makes me happy...
not only is it so light that it feels like nothing in your hand, it casts just beautifully. It's a EXCEPTIONAL rod that can do it all. I can't be happier.

such an exemplary rod
I bought this rod in a 10' 4 wt after months of reviewing/ casting it and other comparables such as the orvis helios, winston, douglas sky, and g loomis all in 10' 4wt etc... There were few things that helped me pick this rod over the competition. number 1 this rod is exceptionally light yet I could feel the power behind the rod which was important as I do occasionally use heavy tungsten nymphs/streamers. I appreciated the reel seat and attention to to detail in this area as it was much nicer aesthetically than the Orvis especially and I think on par with the Winston rods. + the brand history was an added bonus. I was a little concerned with the warranty as I live in the US, but my local fly shop said that they have been the best post covid of any of the brands they carry in terms of turn around time. I am using this rod primary with a mono rig setup 20lbs monofilament fly line but also using normal weight forward lines with it and I cant tell you how much I love it and how proud I am to own it.

Very well designed rod. Crisp performance.
I have been a Hardy customer for many decades. Love the tradition and the history of this great brand. But, I am picky about my gear and brand loyalty is a secondary consideration for me. Quality and performance are the top on my priority list. With the Ultralite fly rods, Hardy hit a mark that is truly admirable. I love how this rod casts at short, medium, and long distances. It keeps the loop stability for long casts with long/light leaders. Also, Hardy did a superb job of reducing any rod vibration during casting, The rod casts and tracks very well, one of the best I have seen. This rod is right up there with the best of them for performance. The Hardy attention to details and aesthetics nudges it ahead of the pack. Love the light feel in the hand. Responsive feeling during the cast, and quick tip recovery for great presentation at any distance. One of the prime fly rods in the market. I love the 9' 5WT for big water trout fishing. I use this rod for technical dry fly fishing. But the rod is equally capable of fishing dry dropper, nymphs, and streamers. The rod has plenty of backbone and predictable tip section to fight big fish on light tippet. I am not overly thrilled about over engineered reel seat design. Other than that, hardy built another winner here.

10ft 4wt for euro nymphing or mono rig
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

Bought this rod to use with a mono rig based on trout bitten review. Extremely happy with rod. Very light weight so I can fish all day without any fatigue. Quality is what one would expect in this price range. Love the flexible guides. If you need a rod for euro nymphing this is it. Flexible tip to protect light tippet but good backbone to bring in large fish.

Ultralite multi tool.
I have had Hardy Ultralite rods in my boat for a full season now, and my customers have been loving them. Folks are impressed with the “feather weight” and accuracy, even with a stiff headwind. The rod is a clear standout in a crowded market, and I’ve cast most of them.

Hooked
I added the 905 Ultralight to the boat a couple of weeks ago to be a dedicated dry fly rod. We’ve had unpresidented winds this spring so last weekend I switched out the dry fly for a small indicator rig and handed the clean corked rod to a first time fly angler. The first thing out of her mouth was how light the rod was. The second thing out of her mouth, after she landed her first trout, was how much fun fly fishing is. It sure is nice to have great people, great experiences and great gear in the boat.
