Ultralight Without Ultra-Compromise
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- M

This jacket delivers impressive warmth as a truly ultra lightweight insulating layer. It has become my go-to layer for bikepacking and grocery trips alike! The face fabric is durable for the weight, but as with any ultralight piece, it?s best to take a bit of extra care. The L.I.M Essens Down Jacket is among the warmest ultralight down jackets I?ve worn that performs well in low-high output range activities. Throw it on to keep off the chill after a high-output activity, or pair it with a baselayer and hardshell to lock in that heat! Finally, the fit is great. The slight athletic tailoring allows for layering underneath without looking too boxy. I wear a size small Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer S Jacket, size medium Arc'teryx Atom LT, and a size medium in the L.I.M. Esens Down Jacket.

Great for Backpacking and Travel
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:
- 5' 6"
- Weight:
- 145
I've had this jacket for ~1.5 years now and use it mainly as my backpacking/bikepacking jacket or a layer to throw in my pack on a long day. It's incredibly light and packs a ton of warmth in comparison to weight. It has a sturdy construction for the material but the face fabric is still only 7D so you do have to be careful with it. I snagged a little hole on a branch that was easily patched. Not for bushwacking in but good for pretty much everything else! I wear a Medium in Arc'teryx and Patagonia jackets and a Medium in the Haglofs L.I.M. Essen Down Jacket.
