The IDEAL carry-on backpack!

I had a chance to use the Detour 40 carry-on backpack during my recent trip to Asia and Europe… and this is what I found. 1) The Detour 40 easily fits into the overhead compartment of both domestic and international airlines. It met both domestic and international carry-on measurements. Made my life a lot easier. 2) I was able to carry 7 days worth of clothing into my Detour 40… all packed and rolled up of course. I did check-in my bigger hard case luggage of course! 3) The Detour 40 was very comfortable thanks to its padded straps. 4) The side bottle carrier/slot easily swallows my 32oz bottle water. No problem. 5) Inside lining of the Detour 40 is reddish/orange color… making it easy for me to find things! All in all, it’s my new favorite carry/on backpack for both domestic and international trips.

Carry on travel bag

I have used this bag many times now flying. It can hold the perfect amount of clothes for a 3-5 day trip. The bottom pull down straps kinda get in the way when your packing but if you loosen them all the way up and then pull them tight after packing it’s good to go. The outer pocket could use a little more room for phone charger, passport, ect…but overall it works great, it has been on many flights and cruises. It fits on the smaller regional jets overhead bins and the large commercial jet overhead bins. I ditched my rolling bag for this backpack and it’s been great.

Its a great travel backpack if you feel like being nimble. I took it on a trip to Peru and it was nice for moving from hotel to hotel. Its well built and decently light. Things to note: No waist straps, so its not great for long time or distance wear. If I'm being nitpicky, I'd like a few more pockets to help with organization. With that said, I still recommend this for simple, well built, non rolling, carry on, luggage.

Conventional backpack

Ordered the border carry on 40, tribute 40, and the detour 40. The border carry on was far superior than the other two. Goal was to use as a basic economy travel bag. This bag was my least favorite design. Seemed like a conventional backpack and not ideal for travel and carry on as I intended.

Detour 40

100% pleased except one of the zipper pulls became detached the first time I used it. The Detour 40 is a great airport companion.

Packs plenty comfortably

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pack holds a lot! It has plenty of space and compartments for your clothes, toiletries, and laptop. I like the smaller compartments that I can use to keep items from getting lost. There are adjustable straps that when loosened allow me to stay organized. The material appears to be durable and waterproof. As I write this the covid pandemic continues, so I won't be traveling as I had hoped, but will take it on day hiking trips to carry my family's water bottles and food. Overall, this pack "packs plenty comfortably" and will be replacing my old bug out bag.
