The Gore Bike Wear Power Trail GT AS Jacket proves that heavyweight weather protection doesn’t have to weigh much. The Power Trail is super-lightweight and packable, but it shrugs off Mother Nature’s nastiest moods with a guaranteed waterproof breathable membrane.

Gore Bike Wear's Power Trail GT AS jacket is made from Gore's patented Gore-Tex Active fabric. This material adheres to Gore's rigorous standards of lightweight, windproof, waterproof, and breathable construction. We understand that this is a tall order, but Gore alone has proven itself capable of commanding such absolutes. The lightweight fabric design allows high breathability and well regulated moisture transfer away from the skin to the outer-layer of the jacket. Not only is the jacket designed to compete with the weather, but it provides a precise anatomic fit as well, so it sits close to the skin without limiting range of motion. The Power Trail jacket features an adjustable hood with a close-fit collar, and an adjustable hem and wrist cuffs to allow the jacket to follow you in and out of the saddle.

And although the Power Trail GT AS Jacket is made for mountainous touring, you're going to have to ride home at some point. That's why Gore's included reflective piping on the sleeves and back, and a reflective logo on the front, back, and collar of the jacket. For storage, the jacket uses a front Napoleon pocket, a zippered sleeve pocket, and a zippered under-flap.

Works great on the bike and looks great off the bike. I use it hiking, running and MTB. Great fit! The forearms are a bit tight but I have big arms for a cyclist...

    Good, but sizing is strange

Overall impression: Ive ridden with this jacket for a few days now and I can say the gore-tex active is a great fabric. I sweat a lot and it breathes incredibly well, far better than gore-tex pro and other gore produts I use regularly. Seems durable, no frills, but not minimalist. The napoleon pocket is sizeable and it has two cinches at the waist. The back is slightly lower for coverage, but just barely different than a standard cut jacket. Doesnt look like a showers pass jacket or similar style jacket. The hood is well sized to go under a helmet and is articulated, so movement is good when on and it does not restrict field of vision.
Fit: This is where it was tricky for me. I am 6'1 and 175 so should be a Large according to Gore. The large was tight in the chest which CC said shouldnt matter when biking, but I feel like when using this jacket as intended (on the trail/mtb) I want some leeway in the chest when riding downhill to account for the amount of arm movement/spreading which occurs when riding mtb. The sleeves were also strangely tight, particularly around the forearms. I'm no bodybuilder, but with a layer on the fabric was near taught around my forearms, and not all that comfortable. Perhaps I am used to looser fitting jackets from other sports, but it did not feel comfortable. I went with the XL which is just slightly bigger than I wanted, but a better overall fit when accounting for complete ease of movement necessary when mountain biking.

Bottom line: Great jacket, not much out there like it but make sure you order your size and a size up when buying online.
