    Perfect Little Lantern

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing is compact, ridiculously bright, and super convenient! I love that you can charge your phone with it and stick it to your car with the magnet on the bottom. It can almost be too bright sometimes, so it's really nice that it has a dimming feature for when you just need a little light. I'd definitely recommend this if you need a lantern for your glamping kit! It'd even be a great thing to keep in the car just in case.

    Great for Car Camping

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This lamp is powerful and the battery lasts a long time. It’s not super heavy but I wouldn’t recommend for backpacking. Some of the features I liked best: the charge is always connected to the lamp, the lamp has a battery indicator, you can use only half of the power by turning the dial to one side, and it has dimming capabilities. Overall, for car camping this is awesome.

    Great for Car Camping

    Great little lantern

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great lantern for a long weekend camping trip. It is compact and much less fragile than say, a glass lantern. Nothing to light, just turn the dial.
    Pros:
The magnet is a very cool feature, especially if you are cooking near your vehicle or working on anything.
I love that the USB cable clips away and won't get lost, yet is not in the way. This also makes it easy to charge in your vehicle during the daytime.
The light is plenty bright enough for camping use, yet dimmable for inside of the tent or camper.

    The cons:
Does not last as long as manufacturer states. At brightest setting, both sides, this light lasts for 3.5 hours, not 4. One side at brightest setting lasts 7 hours, not 8. At the lowest setting, one side, it lasted approx 75 hours. Nowhere near the 350 that the manufacturer claims.
It takes a LONG time to charge, about 5-6 hours. I did not try it from the car, this was from the standard 110 outlet in the house.

I did not try charging my phone with this product, but I'm sure it would work in a pinch, at the expense light time, so you would have to prioritize which was more valuable camping, your device or light ;)
Overall, it is a very good product and I'm sure we will use it a lot next summer.

    Compact Lantern and Phone Charger

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice lantern with the ability to illuminate single (more like flashlight) or double sided. Really like that there are no batteries to buy, you simply charge it with any charger that accepts USB interface. Have not had ample time to find out if the 350 hour illumination on a single charge is accurate but I've had it on for hours and no diminished brightness that I can see. The hoop handle is great for hanging it in tent or around the campsite. It's compact size makes it not only great for car camping but also possible for the backpack. In addition to being a solid lantern, it has the added bonus of being able to charge your phone (USB connection). Definitely worth a look.

    Compact Lantern and Phone Charger

    Half Light and charger

This light is great for when you have to get up in the middle of the night. Turn it on so that the light only comes out of one side and doesn't blind you, still dimmable as well. The light is awesome and really bright when you want it to be, or you can turn it way down which is great! The cord to charge it is always connected to it which makes it so you won't loose it, however what happens when this breaks? The usb port to charge your phone works great. Charged my phone from 25% to 100% in a pretty short time. However, I then used the light and ran out of power about 45 minutes later. Not sure if the light was fully charged when I charged the phone? As a light alone this is great, love the magnetic base, strong enough to hold itself on the side of your refrigerator, car, or anything else that is metal. It is a nice feature that can come in handy once in a while. It is not real big but gives off a lot of light.

      Half Light and charger

So bright you'll have to wear shades!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This little light rocks! It is super bright. I never had to turn it past barely on to light up the camp table for cooking, cocktailing and reading. The wire bail on top is super handy for inside the tent or van. Highly recommended.

Solid addition to the glamping bin!!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This little lantern shines! Plenty bright for lighting up the area around a campfire, and small enough not to leave behind, I haven't used the charging function all that much, but it seems to work fine in a pinch. Just remember every minute charging your phone is a minute you may not have light.

I like the built-in cable for charging, however, my only concern is that if this cable is ever damaged or torn there is no other way to charge the lantern ( i.e micro USB port). A small concern sure, but a real possibility. The ability to turn on one side of the lantern is very nice to keep the light off your tentmate during a late night emergency bathroom outing, or when reading in your sleeping bag. it also helps save a lot of energy. I probably wouldn't take this backpacking with me, as it is just a little bulky for foot travel. But if you are a van glamper or desert dirtbag that just needs a good light for setting up camp at 10 o'clock at night after a long day fishing/climbing/rafting/base-jumping - than this thing rocks.

      Great bright and dimmable lantern

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is an excellent little lantern. At 400 lumens it's plenty bright. My favorite aspect is how dimmable it is, both on half and full light. It's lightweight and streamlined and always nice to be able to plug into it to boost the phone charge. Another great lantern from Goal Zero
