Bad connectivity

I spend 20 mins before every ride trying to get device to sync to my iPhone. Device randomly turns off or freezes during rides. The climb coach constantly tells me I am climbing when I am actually descending. Real junk.

Great Choice

I purchased the 540 to replace my old Garmin 510, which I had used for 10 years. I love the new features and the bigger screen. I think it is a great investment and look forward to using it for many years to come! I have been very happy with my Garmin products over the years. Now I just need my wife to let me upgrade my Garmin radar which is also about 10 years old :)

A lot to like, could be better

Have had my 530 for a month now, and a few things. Overall it works great. As others have said, the buttons and menu bars can be a bit clumsy to deal with, but honestly, they aren't that bad. I don't try to mess with my unit while underway, so pushing buttons on the fly is not needed. Unit is very small = good. connects with heart monitor easily. I do think that for the price, given competition with touchscreens at about the same price, I rate it 4 stars. I would expect such a device to be cheaper.

540

It’s not super user friendly at first but it’s getting better I should have waited and bought a touchscreen

The Gold standard

Am I a Garmin Fanboy? yup, and for good reason. These things just work. I wasn't looking for anything super fancy, just a solid head unit to connect my varia, heart rate strap, and cadence sensor...to track my rides. I replaced an older Edge 820 with this 540. I like the buttons over the touch screen (which was less than functional on the 820).

So many bugs

Got this as a so called up grade to my old Edge 130. Have to confirm the sensors 5 times before each ride. Everything is using the latest software. Have reprogrammed everything multiple times.... avoid buying until they have sorted out these bugs that they known about for sometrime.

Features are fine. Need a larger screen.

As far as the unit goes, it takes too many button presses to make it fluid. Also the screen is too small to be functional for bad eyesight. Luckily it didn’t cost me anything. I would purchase on my own. Would rather use my phone and trail forks app than downloading and having to save all the trails. With as much technology that is available today, it looks like an outdating gaming system for graphics.
