    The Only Trim Tool

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you need to trim some skins you need to buy this tool. It makes the traditional card shaped trim tools seem worthless. It's got guides on it that measure out the perfect amount on edge overhang and it's really easy to use.

    It works as it should

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Once you get a handle of how to use it (the instruction manual leaves something to be desired), its small, and easy to use.

    Essential tool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After trimming a few pairs of skins with the classic and completely useless card shaped trimmer, I knew there had to be something better. The G3 tool is easy to use and makes trimming skins a breeze. Even sticky, 3 seasons old, dog fur covered skins don't stand a chance against this thing.

One of the best skin inventions.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So happy this exists, makes cutting skins a 5 minute ordeal. If you need to get skins, you need this tool

    Gimmick

The idea of not having to re-position the skins during trimming in order to get edge exposure is a fine idea, but it ends up being a gimmick that impedes a clean cut. The tool has thin plastic ridge that lifts the skin off the ski to allow the razor to cut a couple mm away from the edge. The problem is that when the skin isn't touching the ski, the fabric can move around and bunch up, and it's much harder to get a clean cut. This is particularly problematic when the amount being trimmed is narrow. In addition, because you have to keep pressure on the edge of the skin in order to keep it tight against the blade, the tool ends up damaging the glue along the edge as it passes.

Given the thousands of times I have put skins on skis, it really shouldn't be a big deal to carefully position new skins a couple mm offset on each side to do the trimming. Besides, everyones preference for how much edge to show might not be the same.

I got two of these trimmers, to make sure there was a nice fresh blade for each ski, but I was disappointed by the hack job they did on some new skins. Fortunately I had an old BD tool lying around that helped clean things up. Should have stuck with the old-fashioned method in the first place.

      Best out there

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool is significantly easier than using any other tool on the market. Get your skins lined up and let it rip. No dealing with guestimating the offsets that you need to deal with on other brands. That said was a little trickier to start than I was expecting when you are only trimming up a couple mm worth of skins near the tips of the skis. After it started cutting though it was a breeze.

I would have given it 5 stars, but I had to go back and use a BD trimmer I had laying around to dial it in to my preference (and fix a an error on my part).

      Useful Little Fella

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing is very handy. Whenever I have non G3 skins to cut I get this one since it's so much easier to get the perfect results. Unfortunately they are somewhat disposable in my experience. They work great when new, but after cutting a few sets of skins it get's gunked up and dull and doesn't work as well. Can't complain for the price though.

The Only Way to Cut Skins

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Even if you have skins other than G3, get this trim tool. It will save you the time, hassle, and potential of screwing up your skins when you trim them. Slide this bad boy along each side of your skis and you are good to go! Have questions about trimming your skins or the right skins for you? Reach out and I'd be happy to help!

      Painfree Skin Trimming

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best tool out there. No need to shift the skins around to get the perfect cut. With this tool, you simply put the skins on once, and with two quick swipes, you're done and ready to ski uphill! The tool has a built in offset to push the edge of the ski and can cut once while leaving the edges exposed.

Feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions about skins trimming or anything else.

Takes the stress out of trimming skins

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have been trimming skins the old way for years with anxiety and apprehension. always making one or two mistakes that will then accompany me through the mountains for years and years. But never again! Be gone all you imperfections and stray cuts, now I only have my technique to blame for sliding ass-backwards down the flagstaff skinner! This tool will change your life, best 4 bucks I've ever spent.
