Fox hasn't forgotten you dirt jumpers and four crossers out there just because you're hiding amongst huge piles of fresh dirt! The Fox 32 831 100 FIT RLC Fork is specifically designed to suit the needs of dirt jumping, dual slalom, and 4X racing. It's lightweight yet stiff, and the Kashima Coat on the upper tubes makes it so responsive you can feel the rake marks in the dirt.

The Kashima Coat starts with raw aluminum stanchions and adds molybdenum disulfide via an induction process that deposits the material into pores in the surface to the effect of 70 billion pores per cm². The MoS₂ adds lubricity, extending the life of the tubes as well as greatly reducing friction. This reduces stiction and makes the fork ...Kashima Coat makes the 831 so smooth, you can feel the rake marks in the dirt... more responsive over stutters and successive whoops. More fork control means better traction, and that may just be the difference between railing out of the pocket or over the top of the berm and off course.

Fox knows their 831 will suffer abuse at the hands of eager groms and experienced riders alike, beating it at the jump park. For that reason, it uses the same magnesium lower legs as its long travel FLOAT cousins. At a shorter 100mm travel length however, the chassis is extra stiff due to greater bushing overlap. If you need some extra travel and don't mind pulling the lower legs, you can remove travel spacers from underneath the air piston in 10mm increments to extend the 831 to a maximum of 120mm of travel.

Since the 831 is designed expressly for the demands of the jump park or slalom course, the FIT RLC damper has valving designed to counteract fork wallow when sprinting from a gate start and bottom out after big jumps. The difference is in the compression damping tune, both high and low speed, from the factory. There are adjustments at the crown of course for day to day tweaking, depending on your preferences -- we'd expect nothing less from Fox. There are machined aluminum knobs for the low speed compression damping, lockout, rebound damping, and the lockout force adjust. The air spring is designed to be more progressive to help battle bottom out and another benefit is that, in conjunction with the new FIT RLC damper, it will resist compression during hard cornering loads.

The FIT damper is sealed against the elements -- a good thing when you're riding in a dusty bike park all day. In addition to resisting contamination, the sealed suspension fluid can't get aerated, so the damping characteristics stay the same from the top of the course to the bottom.

The Fox32 831 100 FIT RLC Fork has a Black powdercoated crown and lower legs and gold colored Kashima Coat on the upper tubes. It uses a 15QR thru-axle and two steerer options exist -- straight 1-1/8" and tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5". The tool-free 15QR thru-axle keeps the front end of the bike from squirming on gnarly landings. It uses post mounts for the brake rotor and will accept up to a 203mm rotor, although a 160mm rotor will allow for a direct mount to the lower leg with no adapter.

US Fox dealers are prohibited from shipping Fox Forks outside the US.

Details

  • Kashima Coat reduces stiction and adds durability without adding weight
  • Fox Isolation Technology (FIT) prevents the oil and air inside the fork from mixing for optimal performance in any weather extremes
  • The 15mm QR is much stiffer than a 9mm QR and much lighter than a 20mm thru-axle for optimal XC and all-mountain performance
  • Lever-actuated lockout eliminates fork bob during climbing and can be adjusted to compress slightly to improve tracking or it can lock out completely
  • Low-speed compression adjustment allows the rider to dial the fork's feel on smaller bumps and washboard surfaces
