Rain is an ingredient for an epic day.
The only thing gray clouds mean to you are epic BWO hatches and constant top-water action, because you keep your gear dry with the Fishpond Thunderhead Sling. Made from welded TPU fabric, the Thunderhead will repel water whether it's pissing rain or you take a slider when you're wrestling a big rainbow.
The main compartment is fully submersible thanks to a waterproof Tizip zipper closure, while the remaining pockets are highly water-resistant courtesy of their YKK Aquaguard zippers. In terms of storage, the Thunderhead will carry just about everything you need for a full day of steelheading, bonefish hunting, or getting back to your roots on your favorite trout stream. The shoulder strap and back panel feature a breathable mesh to keep the pack cool and comfortable when the suns out, and the integrated net slot keeps your Fishpond net secure and ready to go once you've finessed your catch to shore.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I've had this pack for a few months now. I decided to go ahead and spend the money for a water proof/resistant bag after I took a plunge with my other sling and got my wallet, phone, and keys wet. It was well worth it! This thing is awesome. I've waded pretty deep, and have taken a few falls, but this thing has kept everything (except some leaders and other things in the outside small pocket) dry! And it's pretty tough too. The only downfall with this bag for me, is the lack of organizational pockets on the inside. It's just one large storage area, with a small pouch to store your wallet, phone, keys, etc. Other than that, this bag is fantastic.
Water logged TPU material
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Bag has all the bells and whistles that other fully-submergible bags just dont have and NEED! how ever the material used is not 5-star. It makes the bag durable and water proof inside, but seems to WATERLOGGED some how, and needs a large about of drying to remove water logged between the laminate. i have had many water proof dry bags and this is by far the most unimpressive circumstance i have had with any water proof material EVER. Not sure if it was just mine but i posted a picture you would see that moister can get between the layers, if any one else has experienced this id love to know. and their customer service stunk to high heaven... a 230$ dollar bag with a "lifetime warranty", they would not warrant the issue and i only used it once. This is why gave it 3 stars. bad service and expensive and the shell isn't water proof, just the inside and im not trying to carry around a water logged bag.

I was looking for a bag that I could carry my SLR camera and other electronics for a day fishing or on a float trip when I came across the Thunderhead. The sling style pack is extremely comfortable and stays nice and secure. It has got plenty of space to carry a camera and additional gear for a day on the water as well as several gear loops to keep commonly used items easily accessible. I have not had to test the submersion, but my camera and gear has stayed dry during fairly heavy rain.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I got this bag for a friend who I fish with often. This thing is pretty sweet. Its waterproof fabric is super durable. I would feel comfortable letting it get wet and knowing everything would be dry. The waterproof zipper is super sturdy and the oversized zipper clasp makes it easy to open and close. It's a good size to fit all your gear for a day on the river - fly boxes, fishing accessories, food, water, and extra layer. It has some good storage attachments on the outside for flies, nippers, forseps, tippet holder, and many other accessories. A convenient, practical and high-quality bag. I liked it very much.

If you are like me you like to take expensive toys out on the water with you. I rarely leave house without my DSLR, lens(es), a point and shoot, etc. Every time that I venture out to fish I am worried that today is going to be the day that I take a spill and ruin all my camera gear. Luckily I have not, but I know the day is coming when I do not see a rock in the water and TIMBER!!! Down I go.
When Fishpond released their statement that they were going to come out with a submersible sling pack I was thrilled. I patiently waited for the bag to be released before I got one in my hands.
This bag is built really well. It is made out of Fishpond's cycle pond fabric. This fabric is recycled from old commercial fishing nets. The bag is also TPU welded making the seams air tight. The bag utilizes a TIZIP zipper that is fully submersible and excellent at keeping the water out. The bag also features a smaller secondary pocket that uses a size 8 YKK aquaguard zipper that is only water resistant. The bag is really well made, and is really 100% waterproof. Not only did I never have any rain come into the bag, but I help the bag underwater for around 30 seconds and had no water enter the main compartment. If for some reason you find yourself dunking the bag for prolonged periods of time know that your stuff will stay safe.
This bag offers some really great features. I can't mention enough that it is waterproof...that is a stinking awesome feature. Other features include hypalon tabs that are placed where you would want them. The bag has a nice, wide shoulder strap that helps keep things comfortable when you have a heavy load. The strap also features more areas you can clip things to. The bag features a net sleeve on the back of the bag that you can slide your net through. This solved so many of my issues with slings and where to put a net. The bag also features an area you can run straps through to haul a rod tube, d-rings to hang other gadgets from. The interior of the bag is one huge compartment, but it does have a small zippered pocket and buttoned pocket to store your valuables.
Here are just a few run down specs that you may or may not want to know. The bag weighs 2lbs and is around 793 cubic inches. The bag is large enough to hold more fly boxes than you will need. I can easily fit a rain jacket, lunch, fly boxes, camera, leader wallet, etc. This bag can hold all that you need for a day on the water. It is a great way to haul around expensive camera gear without fear of it getting ruined. This bag is a great way to protect all your gear from the elements.
