Shield Vest V2
Although the pain inflicted by taking a metal handrail to the chest might be someone else's idea of a good time, the Demon Snow Men's Shield Vest helps you have peace of mind in case you're not one of these people. Lightweight and low profile, this vest offers vital core protection and burlier, hard-plastic shielding for your spine. Breathable synthetic material means you won't sweat like a pig while you session that booter, rail, or jib.
- Impact vest for skiers and boarders pushing the limits
- Small sections of foam let your body operate as intended
- Low profile spine guard keeps you moving freely
- Contoured front entry makes for easy on and off

Soft front hard back
I loved the front padding and fit of this vest but the back is segmented hard pads and had no side rib protection. Not what I was looking for. Seems to be made for medium front hits and hard back hits. Wish the back was like the front and that it had lateral rib protection. Went with the troy lee 3900 hot weather vest.

Something is not right
I always wear a med or lg (this was the med). The waist and chest were fine but I could have gotten the neck around my outer jacket. Maybe this just did not fit me seems like everyone else was happy with it which is why I purchased it.

won't even realize you are wearing it
first off, sizing: I'm 5'10, 160 and the medium fits perfect (although a wee bit short in the lower back as someone else noted). This is the first piece of 'armor' I have purchased but I find the fit/protection to be the perfect combination for me (an aggressive tele skier). Luckily, I haven't had the opportunity to test the protection but the fit has already sold me on it. No reason not to wear it when I hardly tell it's on.

im a large guy being 6'3" 275 lbs with a 50 inch chest. The xxl fit great. I got to test it out on some east coast man made snow that was frozen hard as cement. It protected me so well I wasn't at all sore at the end of the day. It fit snug and moved well me with my body. There wasn't any binding or lack of movement. I would recommend it to anyone that's wanting some rib, chest and spine protection. I snowboard but it would work for anyone needing some protection skiing , snowboarding or ice skating with a hoodie over it.

Totally worth it!
Great Investment for anyone from beginner to expert. I've tried other brands and this one is most comfortable. Vest style feels better where it doesnt move around much as other type of spine protection. its not too heavy and warm so it works as another layer.

Worth its weight in gold
I recently purchased this vest to replace a standalone spine protector. I am extremely satisfied as to how well it has performed so far. I mainly got it for the spine guard; I found that wearing one can save you from many a scorpions, and whiplash(when coupled with a helmet). The added protection of the chest and ribs in this vest makes me feel safer and more confident on the slopes. Every snowboarder should have one of these in their arsenal, especially since it adds an extra layer of warmth, and still lets you move as freely as ever. I look forward to many more seasons using this vest. I highly recommend it.

Demon Shield Vest
The demon shield vest is an awesome investment. I just started rails in snowboarding and I thought about protecting my ribs and my spine. This vest does exactly that; however, the collar bone protection seems to run a little low for my collar bone. I ordered a medium and I'm a 6'1 160 lbs male. Other than that, it seems like its a pretty great deal.

Incredible armor. The spine armor is really effective. I have taken few high falls from doing jumps, rails (snowboarding), and the armor protected me from hard impacts. Highly recommend this armor***

One of the best
I have tried numerous body armor and pads to take the edge off the burly tumbles. There are many terrible applications out there. Unfortunately it seems whoever is designing a fair amount of these pieces has little to no communication with the tester or consumers. Poor designs, bad construction and limited mobility are all factors. Demon has been my go to shred armor after a spinal fracture a few seasons back. If you want to progress and go bigger, you need to also take the counter measures. There isn't any piece of armor that will keep you from getting hurt but this here vest has saved me numerous times from bruised/broken ribs and further spinal determent. It does have a bit of protection up front as well which has come in handy during the occasional rail taco incident. I really love it for the hard shell spine protector. The armadillo like plate structure on the back allows total mobility in terms of bending back and forth. It also has a comfortable padding under it as well. It would recommend throwing a base layer under it so you don't feel scratchy or uncomfortable. The only real downside is the arm openings aren't really spacious. I'm not real beefed up top but it seems a little snugger this year. I'm about 5'10" 180 lbs and the Large seems to be a good fit for me. One of the best vest style spine protectors out there. ***UPDATE*** After many uses I have definitely confirmed this version runs a fair bit warmer than previous models. It's also stiffer especially when bending over. If you run hot and or need some spine protection on warm days, I'd recommend the Salomon Flexcell. SAL2643

I took a major spill and bruised my lumbar spine area and most likely cracked a rib while tumbling down the hill snowboarding soooo I started looking into body armor and butt pads etc. Nice and helpful ppl at backcountry directed me towards this product although my mind was set on another piece that was out of stock at the time. Man was I glad because the protection offered on this vest is superior compared to more expensive ones! There is foam padding thru out the chest albeit not the thickest, foam padding that runs the length of the rib cage with what feels like hard plastic on top of the foam for impact absorption (not alot of other comparable products offer this), excellent articulated plastic spine protector that runs the length of the spine and does not restrict motion along with moderate lumbar spine protection (most other armor have protection up and down the spine but offer nothing in terms of lumbar protection. Only thing I would have to say is demon products tend to run a little small so maybe size up what you would normally wear. I'm usually a L but ordered this in an XL,also did the same thing with the demon d3o butt protector shorts

What size would fit a 44" chest (wide shoulders), and 38" waist? Does the top fit at or below the waist?
February 25, 2019
Hey Ramon! According to their size chart, the XL size should fit a chest of 44 and a 38 waist. And the bottom of this vest stops right at the waist. If you have any other questions, shoot me an email above!

Do you wear thermals under this and a T-shirt over it?
March 29, 2018
Hey there Kamal! Most people will wear a baselayer under this and then wear this as a 'vest' You don't need to wear a shirt over it, it could just look confusing to onlookers : ) However with a product like this you could honestly wear it how you want to. Having it directly on your skin would allow it to absorb the moisture so I would wear absorbent under it : )

How would this product hold up in a wet...
How would this product hold up in a wet environment - ie jetskiing/wake boarding?

I would say i would start to fall apart after a while. The construction is great, don't get me wrong. I just don't see this as being designed to handle that kind of force from the water catching the armadillo like plates on the back for example. Also I would imagine it would be quite heavy when water logged. I would recommend getting a life vest with built in protection. I know they are out there and would be a longer lasting option.
