Scout Short Glove

Your friends' mitts might not be too cool—or warm, rather—with the long, slow, difficulties of traversing the tops of resorts in search of untouched lines on crowded powder days, but your hand will feel just fine in Dakine's Scout Short Glove. Its waterproof, breathable membrane and heavyweight insulation fend off the snowy cold when you occasionally plant your palm in the snow to keep you traversing instead of going down. The Rubbertec palm gives you a good grip when you're grabbing tree branches, too.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I don't know if these are defective or what...I bought these based on previous ratings, but they were just about useless to me. We went on a 4 day ski trip to Vail in January and my hands froze the whole time. They were worthless. Mountain conditions were dry and not too windy (temperatures in the 30's), but the cold was felt through the gloves almost immediately upon leaving our condo. They felt about as good as those stretchy cloth gloves you can get from the dollar store. Don't buy them, guys. I tried to return, but my 30-day return window closed even before our trip (that's what I get for buying during the black-friday sale, I guess).
