Poor heat control
This stove is either off or full blast heat. No simmer control or low heat capability. Like others, there is a hair width's of control on the burner from off to "slightly less than FULL heat". Poor design. I bought this last year to cook food outside our travel trailer at the camp site. Boils water great, nothing else. Look elsewhere.

Another poorly controlled flame......
I bought this expecting spending the extra $$$ would have a flame control knob that worked. Fooled again. I have yet to own a Coleman propane stove that has been able to effectively control the flame. Why has this been an issue for decades?

Great quality after 3 years of use
Not sure why people seem to think you can't turn the heat down. We slow cook pancakes all the time on the included griddle tops. The FyreChampion has been great for everything from soups up to doing full boils on a single burner. Yes it takes time to get a boil going, but it worked and once boiling kept a boil while we added all the meat/veg. Only time we had any concern was the whistle under certain conditions. This can be resolved by turning the heat up or down a little. We have used the FyreChampion with 1lb camp bottles and a 20lb bottle with the appropriate hose.

Lack of burner control = useless
nicely designed for family cooking but burner control is either on or off. fine if you want all your meals burned to a crisp - and no not everyone eats cremated meat on field vacation.

No control over heat, way too hot
We go camping 6-7 times a year and thought we would spend a bit more to get a nicer stove since we will use it quite a bit. We got this a few years ago and aren't very impressed with it. It goes from zero to hero with a millimeter turn of the control knob which makes so you burn pretty much everything without properly cooking the inside of whatever your making. So then your constantly trying to turn it low enough to not burn everything but not too low because then you will lose your flame. But then at about the right heat, it makes a really loud shrill noise. Also, the control knob design is kind of stupid so ours have both been stripped out and we need to use vice grips to turn on and off.

"The burner"
Bought this as an upgrade from the disposable butane can type Cooker and was impressed by its looks and neat even got the carry bag for it... But..!,! .... When it comes to cooking its WAY TO HOT. the regulator must be not set right or something I put on a full cast plate and fill it with Sausages (around 30) and burn them with out even trying. It will not go any lower on the dial... Plus if you are boiling water and do deliberately turn it up (barely half way) it starts to let out a horrifyingly bad screaming sound.... Not Good Coleman..... Not Good... you should look into changing the preset regulator on the adapter pipe its not right... Fix this and it will be a great little unit... Do it Coleman. Fix it..

Save your money
Great if all you want to do is boil water, there is virtually no low flame adjustment to do any type of simmering. I wish I knew this before I purchased it.

great cooker
this is overall a great cooker, I shortened the gas connecter as i'll never use a disposable cylinder and thought the long hard pipe put to much strain on the gas line assembly. the latch for the lid is a bit poor but overall it's the equal hottest and best camp cooker I've seen.
