No waterproof membranes here: the Carhartt Surrey Coat is an old-fashioned, ultra-dry rain slicker made of durable and waterproof PVC fabric, lined with polyester to keep you totally dry even in the hardest downpours you've ever seen. From the oil rig to the fishing boat to the ranch, the Surrey's electronically welded seams keep moisture out, and the double-front storm placket and internal neoprene cuffs make dead sure that no water seeps in. The hood's detachable, so you can leave it behind if the storm's fizzling out, and the elbows are reinforced so there's no chance of wearing them out or putting a hole in your coat.

Don't trust the size chart
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: large
This jacket seemed great when I pulled it out. High quality material, nice bright yellow, and well constructed.
It is MASSIVE. I felt like I was 6 years old and trying my dad's jacket on. I followed the sizing guide above and when I pulled the jacket out the shoulders went down to almost mid bicep and the arms came in at the middle of my ribs. I can't overstate just how large a large was. I should have gone a small probably.
Still, seems like a nice jacket, but their sizing is just awful.
Terrific rain coat.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is just great! A durable and well-constructed rubber rain coat (matched with some rubber rain bibs and knee boots) is the only way to comfortably and confidently endure hours and even days at a time of pouring down rain... and that is exactly what this is; durable, well-constructed, comfortable and "confidence inspiring" for those unrelenting days.
The double layer snap closure system is solid and effective and the neoprene cuffs are a really nice feature/touch.
Regarding size, this jacket (like the rest of Carhartt's rain gear, it seems) runs quite large. At 5'10" and 175lbs, I purchased a size Medium in this jacket and it fits perfectly (allows for tons of base layers to be worn comfortably underneath if needed, yet its not so big or so roomy that it is obnoxious or cumbersome in any way).
