When we are trail running, the Black Diamond Distance 1500 Headlamp is our number one choice for a headlamp. With multiple settings, a comfortable carry, and a super bright light, the Distance 1500 was made to lite up the night as we weave through the trees. There are three brightness modes from 15 to 800 lumens, with the option of cranking up the power to 1500 for a brief 10 seconds through PowerTap technology. The head strap comes with an optional top strap for additional security in technical terrain, and the external Li-ion battery can be changed quickly and easily with one hand.

Distance 1500
Incredible headlamp! Signed up for my 100 mile ultra and did not want to worry about my lighting through the night. This was very comfortable and I had plenty of light!

I got this headlamp for
I got this headlamp for SAR to use on the long searches and pack-outs at night. So far, this headlamp has performed well but there are a couple of things that I would prefer were changed. The biggest thing is that whenever you turn the white light on, it comes on in the same default setting, instead of the last setting you had it on. When I customize the settings for a specific purpose, I would like it to come back on on the same setting when I turn it back on. One example is when I need some real distance illumination, I flip it on to the spot light and maybe adjust the brightness. I then need to turn it off to talk to team mates to coordinate or read a map. When I turn it back on, it comes on in the default flood setting and I need to adjust everything again. Overall the flood setting is great for navigating trails.

Best rechargeable head lamp. Rugged, non fussy, reasonable burn time while awaiting sunrise. Replacing battery with big gloves can be done without risking frostbite.

Amazingly bright
Will be my go to headlamp when I need lots of light. It is adjustable and can produce many color options as well. On the heavy side but has a comfortable strap.

One battery short…
Initial impressions: - lightweight - looks cool - minimal buttons👍 - battery indicator 👍 - smooth light transition - comfortable and good option with top strap -easy battery in and out. This is a bit expensive only having one battery, but only hardcore users will need two. Great lamp though.

Worth it
I’ve had so many flash lights and head lamps over the years, I thought for a long time about making the upgrade to a quality headlamp and this one has not disappointed yet! When you want it to be bright it’s BRIGHT but an amazing feature is the auto dim, you set it where you like it for what you’re doing, but then you heard a bump? Or your significant other is trying to get your attention across the camp, you just tap what I call the “go button” and it’s 100% white light, for the perfect amount of time then it auto dims back to where you had it! Amazing… I often forget my cheaper headlamps are on a high setting and drain them! Color options are amazing, it has red and green like we all expect BUT let me tell you about BLUE! This is also the first headlamp I’ve had with a blue option and I LOVE it, I have several pieces of gear with neon paracord attached, or I have a neon green glow in the dark paracord dog leash and with blue everything is ultra violet! I can see my dogs leash on the trail like a black light reactive shirt at a rave lol! I’m very happy with this purchase and honestly wondering why I waited so long!

Night skiing, late climbs, spelunking, hiking, and more. Recommend buying a second battery pack which snaps in easily for longer trips.
