    Skintrack Glove

For our touring collection, we wanted a glove specifically for the skin track, so we teamed up with Black Diamond to make the Backcountry x Black Diamond Skin Track Glove. Its lightweight softshell material breathes so your hands don’t overheat on the way up, and a four-way stretch grants the utmost dexterity. We added a water-resistant treatment to shed snowfall and light moisture to keep your hands comfortably dry. Touchscreen compatibility lets you take photos, send a text, and use your phone on the skin track.

The Skin Track works seamlessly with all other products in our touring collection, especially the Backcountry x Black Diamond Hot Lap Glove. While the Skin Track’s light, performance-oriented fabric gives that special touch of comfortable protection on the uphill, the Hot Lap provides the heavy-duty waterproofing and warm, fleecy insulation required for the downhill. One glove for going up; one glove for riding down.

    Warm gloves

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these gloves for my dad. He is constantly outdoors and uses these on the daily. These are solid whether you're using them casually or for performance.

    Great gloves

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought these for my wife but ended up using them more than she did. They fit snug but comfortable. Warm enough for quick runs or walking around outside.

    perfect in every way

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

these gloves are just right. They have good grip, keep you warm, and fit great. They breathe really well for those warmer days, and could even be used on the downhill.

    Great Gloves

I bought these and the backcountry leather gloves for touring. I wear these when going uphill and then switch to the heavier gloves for when i'm going dowhill. I also use these when i'm running in colder weather as well. I'm really happy with my purchase!

      Great glove, runs large

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been using the Skintrack glove for touring and nordic skiing and have really like it. For me, it replaced an old Marmot two-layer thing glove that I now use as a backup. Here's what I've liked about it:
      * Breaths very well going up
      * Wind and water-proof enough to keep warm when brushing snow off skis during transitions
      * Fits under a bigger glove our mitten

Size was, I would recommend ordering a size down. They run very large. I wear an XL glove consistently across other brands, but the fingers were well long, so I'm re-ordering an L.

Also, the touch-screen capability has been spotty for me, but that may result from the glove being a bit too big, which makes it harder to engage the touch-screen friendly patches.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Backcountry x Black Diamond Skintrack and plan to continue to use it daily for the rest of the winter!

      Solid touring glove

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these gloves quite often when touring (on the uphills and warmer days downhill, too) and am very pleased with them. They're pretty dexterous, easy to slip on, and decently warm. I like the idea of the Backcountry goat logo as a grip, but I think it's in the wrong place. The grip is in the palm of the glove, but you want to grip with you fingers? I feel like this just makes my grip on poles really awkward.

      AWESOME

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love light/thin gloves because for me that's really all I need 90% of the time I'm touring, and being able to wear them while gearing up in the morning is a huge plus. I've generally just used cheap liner gloves, but those soak up water and tear apart easily. These are almost as light as normal liner gloves, but just a bit burlier so they feel much more durable and they are able to shed a good bit of snowfall before getting wet.

Only complaint is that the e-tips don't really work with my iphone very well so I still need to take them off to take photos and whatnot. Not a deal breaker by any means, I would still highly recommend these, but just something that could be improved on to make them totally perfect.

      Great Touring Glove!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great touring glove for your pack ! I love the goat grip option and that they are breathable for the uphill. I can never wear my regular glove/mitten because I just run too hot. This is great option for others like me :)!

      Great touring gloves!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Finally got a splitboard this year and initially did not quite understand the concept of the uphill glove versus the downhill glove haha. After a couple tours of wearing some old bike gloves on the ascent , these finally came back in stock and I snagged a pair and I’ve been in love! They provide more warmth and wind protection than what I was using and breathe great. I tend to have sweaty hands if I even think about doing an activity , so this is important. The Goat on the palm is the best! They fit true to size, I’m a female with average size hands but long fingers and a medium fit great!

      Warm yet breathable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these gloves for my first-ever hut trip and I'm SO pleased with my decision. These gloves are great: they provide more warmth and wind resistance than a liner, but are still breathable that I didn't get too hot wearing them on the 6 mile tour in. On the tour in, we were skiing in the dark and temps dropped to around 12 degrees. These gloves kept my hands warm until the very last 1/2 mile, at which point my thumbs did start to get a bit chilly. I did have to take them off to put my dog's paws back in his snowshoes, but for anything that requires slightly less dexterity (opening backpacks, typing on my phone etc), these gloves were great!

      Love them!

      Given as a gift...”Backcountry 3D Touch gloves...

Phhheww. What an incredible synthetic feel in my palm. The backcountry logo is just an added bonus to hold in my hand. True to size, which as we know, is a rare occurrence now a days. Perfect for everyday use. Stoked on the quality of the product!”

      Excellent Glove!

Super happy with these gloves - they are great for ski touring as a stand alone glove, or on a super cold day as a thick liner if you really need it. I also wear these just around to walk the dog or go on winter hikes - in general they are a great glove for anything active.

Sleek gloves, not good with phones

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I tried these gloves out for casual wear and for commutes when my car is cold in the morning. They're a little big but takes some time breaking them in. They don't do so well with interacting with screens to the point that I usually have to take them off entirely. Nice thing is they're warm, durable and the grip is great.

      Great for skinning uphill!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these for splitboarding and they rock! They are lightweight, durable, and work better than a simple glove liner. The touchscreen compatibility works great when you need to use your phone in the backcountry.

Is this glove meant as a liner for the Hot Lap glove?

      Best Answer

      Hi Iain,

Thanks for your question. It is not meant to be a liner - the Skintrack glove is meant to be used on its own as a lightweight glove for touring uphill (or during other highly-aerobic activities). When we asked our Gearheads what kind of gloves they used for touring they said it wasn't one pair of gloves, it was two - one for the uphill and one for the downhill - so one pair stays dry and warm for downhill, the other can get sweaty and breathe during exertion.
