We love winter. Fresh snow, holiday markets, cheerful festivities with our families. But it can get pretty darn cold out there. Thankfully we're bundled up in our Thistle Down Jacket before we leave the house. This casual puffy isn't shy when it comes to dishing out warmth. We packed it full of soft, lightweight goose down, keeping us snug as a bug while we roam city streets or chill at camp with our buddies.

So warm!

Took this baby up Mount Kenya last month and to the mountains in Ecuador this week and love it. At home it has also become my go to dog walking jacket on cold winter nights and I love it for both day to day life and adventure, especially for $80. So warm. Love the big hood. I?m 5?4 140 and the small fits me great. Bought it last year and it?s been holding up well. It?s not super packable but shrinks down pretty well in the bottom of my pack and find that the comfort is worth the space for chilly weekend trips.

A pleasure to wear

I wore this jacket while lying in the snow for 4 hours during first aid testing for our patrol candidates and it was 10 degrees. The jacket is like a warm down blanket, especially when you pull the hood over. I love the length because i am short waisted and its length stops just above the hips and you can cinch it. Im full in the bust and it provides ample room , its not a fitted coat- it allows for movement and is light. I wear it on short hikes and around town. The only con where I see room for improvement is the zipper is a bit finicky to start but other than that its a pleasure to wear.

Fine jacket but did not like color
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

I purchased the olive green jacket, but did not expect the inner lining to be a rusty brown/orange color. You can' t really tell from the photo on the product page. The BC logo on the arm sleeve was also rusty brown. In terms of sizing I am 5'5', 140 lbs and have a larger chest, and I ordered a medium so the zipper would not be tight if I decided to layer. The fit is quite boxy, so it had enough room to layer on top of a sweater or sweatshirt, but if you're looking for a more fitted style I would size down. The jacket seems warm enough for city walking here in Denver during the winter. Will be returning because I did not love the color.

I'm so undecided on this one

Just received my size M and I'm swimming in it. Thinking about exchanging for a small. Not sure if it will end up being a bit short as the M is hitting the hip okay but huge everywhere else. Width size I'm almost thinking an XS would work but I've never met an XS that is long enough for my arms. Other than sizing, I'm also torn on the look. It's a matte color which looks cool. There's nothing too special about it other than that. Feels warm and fluffy but no bells and whistles. The pockets zip. The main zipper was snagging on my initial try on but maybe just needs a little wearing in or getting used to. The pockets are unlined... I'm realizing I really liked the lining on the pockets of my old puffy. Overall, seems okay for the price, which was sale at around $90. I would never pay full price on this one. Update: an XS ended up fitting me best. 5'8 130 lbs pants size 4, 34b bust

Hi, this is Emily and I work on the Backcountry brand product development team. I am writing this review today to help guide your sizing decision on this new product. My measurements are: 5'4" Tall Size 4, or on the larger size of S in bottoms The larger side of S for tops bust 34 B. The Thistle Jacket is a great winter go to, it is super warm and goes anywhere you want it to. I wear a S in this jacket and it fits me well. The length of the jacket is slightly abbreviated and hits the wearer right at the center of the hip. This makes wearing a harness for belay easy, or simply a more stylish silhouette.
