I love these shorts. They are the perfect length and not too baggy. They have a little stretch to them as well. Good ventilation too. I’m short and stocky so finding shorts that don’t make me look like Frodo Baggins is difficult. But I’m a big fan of these.

I have bought each color now! Absolutely love these shorts. Enough room for liners underneath and great pocket locations for necessities. So comfy and love the color options. Will buy more if more colors come out!

I'll start by saying that I was given these shorts by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I just picked up biking last summer and it's been a fun adventure learning how to ride. Occasionally I've gotten a little overconfident and taken a berm too fast or in this case, jumped a small rock and didn't quite stick the landing... my friend following behind me described the fall as watching me bodycheck the ground and slide across the trail. Thankfully, I came out of it with only a gross scrape on my elbow and a very bruised left side (I will definitely be investing in some elbow pads). Any who, to my surprise when I was checking myself over I didn't find a single tear on my shorts - just a ton of dirt that brushed right off. Definitely impressed with the quality of the materials on these shorts. Not only are they super breathable and comfy, but they're durable as heck. They also get bonus points for having pockets that fit a smartphone without impeding movement in any way. These shorts fit me perfectly, but they do have a belt built in for any adjustments you might need to make. They also have great laser cut holes on the bottom that helps vent out the heat on the uphill.

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I just retook mountain biking and needed a comfortable pair of shorts. These pants are light, the fabric is good quality, and what I like best (hey, it's humid in Tennessee) is the breathability of the material. You can tell the design is carefully thought out considering functionality and style. When I got these pants though, I knew they were too big for me. I ordered a Medium knowing well I'm almost always a small, but I weighed previous reviews about sizing and incorrectly misjudged my own (for reference, I am 5'4'', short-legged, athletically built, with a bigger booty and a 27" waist). I was able to use them without much trouble because they come with an adjustable waist belt and I was able to secure it without other issues. The pants still sagged a bit. I am giving this item 5 stars because the wrong fit is not a fault of the product. I will buy these in Small when they're available, because they are comfortable and stylish without being overly flashy. The pocket space is great for items I want on me, and the material does well in this South weather.

I need these shorts in every color!

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I have been mountain biking for 15 years and have often struggled to find the best women mountain bike shorts. These shorts fit exceptionally well in comparison to other bike shorts I have owned. They are comfortable, flattering and make me feel great. I love the shorter cut, just above the knee and I love the slit detail on the outside seam! I do have a large butt and thick thighs and these bike shorts accommodate my body perfectly. A smaller frame may want to size down, but if you are traditionally a large I would stick with a large on these shorts! I have had several other friends with my same size and frame type try these shorts on and instantly fallen in love with them for their flattering and comfortable fit. I love the silicone grippers on the back of the waist band on these shorts, such a great touch to help these shorts stay in place and feel secure. There is adjustability in the waist band to tighten for those of us with smaller waists. I love the venting design in these shorts as well. I have ridden in Moab in 90 degree weather on exposed trails to the high alpine mountains of Park City. I have put over 100 miles on these shorts, washed, dried (not sure if that is recommended) and found them to be great quality. Seriously, one of the best pairs of bike shorts I have owned. I have also worn these hiking and they have held up well! I also just wear these shorts around the house and out for errands since they feel so flattering and comfortable on my body! I would highly, highly recommend! I am 5'4" and weigh roughly 165.

These shorts are awesome! Love the light fabric for hot summer day riding. It felt like I was getting a breeze with the vents which was so nice. They fit just right with my chamois underneath, not too long and not too short as well. The hip belt is comfortable, subtle, and effective. I got the teal color and love the accented zippers!

Go get yourself these shorts now! Fit: these shorts have a nice high rise without being constricting when leaning over in the saddle in a more aggressive stance. They feel awesome going on and not a struggle to have to wiggle into them. If you curvy- don’t hesitate! For reference, I’m just shy of 5’5 and 175lbs. Fabric: beautiful light weight but stretchy fabric that is soft yet durable. These will be my go-to baggies for hot and humid days here in the northeast. These are my 3rd pair of MTB shorts by Backcountry and I couldn’t be more impressed with the quality and attention to detail, from the high quality buckles/snaps to the little silicone grippers in the back of the waist band. I’ve tried a zillion other brands and they’ve all been sent back because they are cut for a 6th grade boy , or they’ve sat in the back of my closet because I haven’t loved them but settled out of need. These are consistently my go-to shorts 3 days/week. Well done Backcountry!

obsessed with them!

Let me just say, I have had a horrible time finding mountain bike shorts that didn't have whacky girly prints or a weird fit. Everything I was trying on was 1. too tight across the hips 2. huge in the waist or 3. very, very long 4. Cutesy prints which just isn't my vibe... Granted this is a problem I come across in most women's outdoor gear and your choices are definitely more limited when you you have a big booty and thighs; I always feel like I'm compromising on something. Anyways, I gave these a try after giving up on all other shorts and happy to report that out of everything I have tried, these actually fit me the best, I love the colors/style and they seem like great quality (especially for the price). The belt/silicone grippers on the waist band helped keep my pants up. The length is perfect for me...not too long, but not short. The fabric is light weight, stretchy and breathable. I really enjoyed how they moved with me and loved the color options. Overall super happy I found some I like and basically ordered one in every color! Nice work, Backcountry!

The fit of these pants are better than most mountain bike pants I've had. They're comfortable and move well when you ride. Great length and pockets are a really good size.

Overall Disapppointed with these shorts

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Runs large

When I first got these shorts, I liked them. They were airy and comfortable. They seemed big for a size small but figured it wasn't a big deal. These shorts have stretched SO much since I've been wearing them, to the point where I can't even wear them anymore due to them being a hazard from getting caught on my seat when I stand up. I would not recommend these shorts, or if you get them, size down at least a size.

Love These, Would Buy Again

I have last year’s shorts without the belt and love them. They are light weight and stretchy, but not too stretchy that they ever feel like they are going to slide off. And I love the bright orange, especially during hunting season on the fall, I like to know I’m wearing something bright so hunters can see me.
