I ordered these pants in a size medium in both asphalt and black. The asphalt pants I received are at least two inches shorter than the black. I did not want cropped pants in this style so they have to go back. Love the black pants though - long enough and fit perfectly. I may reorder the asphalt and hope the next pair is long enough!

I did really like the look of these pants - they remind me of 90's swishy tracksuits but with a cute jogger cut. I thought they were flattering but ran just a tad large (depending on how you want them to fit) - I am generally a small and am 5'5", on me these pants were just a bit too long and I probably could have sized down for a tighter fit. However, I purchased them to wear to work and unfortunately the fabric is quite swishy and loud so I had to return them. Otherwise they would have been a great pant. If you are just going to wear them walking around outside I think you would be fine, seem like great travel pants, but I work in a variety of environments and loud pants just won't fly.

like a sun hoodie - but for your legs

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I love how versatile these pants are, I use them for pretty much everything! They're SUPER comfy and kept me at the perfect temperature between 30-90 degrees while backpacking both Naturalist Basin in the Uintas (chilly and shaded) and Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch (exposed and HOT). Backcountry's On The Go Pants do a great job of keeping you protected from the wind, sun, and foliage when you find yourself in a bit of a bushwhack situation. Imagine a sun hoodie - but for your legs. And as a bonus, the back pocket is great for stashing some cash or a key on a quick excursion! I'm usually sized schmedium and got the m/reg, but I think I could get away with the s/reg too. The mediums are cozy and look cute, but I do have to make sure I tie the waist drawstring otherwise heavy pocket items can pull the pants down a tad. Leg length is perhaps everrrr so slightly long for my height (short might be too short though), but the cinched ankles make sure any extra material is out of the way! Like I said, I'm a size schmedium so I'd call these true to size. If you're like me, size up if you like things a little loose and cozy or size down if you want a performance fit. Overall impression - these pants are great for grabbing a cup of coffee, going for a hike, or taking a few days to disconnect in the backcountry. Look good while you have fun - whether it's type one or type two. Definitely grab yourself a pair of these!

Love them, but first day wearing them the knee ripped. Perfect sizing, great material, just bummed by them not holding up to some activity

Hey Shelby! I’m 5’11 and was wondering if you thought the length was sufficient for us long legged ladies? Thanks!!

I love love love these. It's very hard for me to find small enough pants and short enough pants, so seeing an XS-SHORT option was the selling point. These are the *perfect* fit for me. I usually wear Boy's Large but pants are often too narrow around the hips, and still too long. These pants are fitted but not tight, loose but not baggy, so they look good but allow me to move around. (Some reviews say these are for certain builds, and I would have to agree. I am on the slimmer side.) The fabric is stretchy and light - it feels weird at first, it's not soft like cotton, but very breathable. I wore them on a long hot bike ride, was sweaty all over, yet didn't feel like they were "sticky" or hot. Pockets are always a plus. I haven't climbed in them but they will be my go-to for sure.

I bought these pants in 2 colors because I wanted a pant I could wear hiking or out with a cute top. These did not disappoint. The pants fit me true to size, as I have more of an athletic build with larger thighs and hips than the average girl at my height. I have difficulty finding joggers that fit without being too tight in the thighs and baggy in the lower leg, but these fit perfectly! They are form fitting through the leg but not tight to the body, creating a flattering look.

First off, I love the material, it is super comfy and breathable. I ordered the short size and it is perfect length without the excess fabric at the legs. I have a more athletic build with a bigger thighs, so I purchased a medium. But after trying it on, the waist is too big. I am able to tighten it with the tie but I’m afraid of purchasing smaller and the legs being too tight. Not sure what to do here. May keep and just deal with the waistband.

Overall I guess I am happy with them. However I read a review before purchasing mentioning that these aren't made for "athletic builds", and they were spot on. I'm 5 foot nothing and 120 lbs. They are just a little more snung than I would prefer in the butt and thighs. I am happy that there is a short option and I would say that the length fits nicely. I do plan to keep them vs returning.

Comfortable, light weight. Used it once for camping out in the winds to keep me warm at night and away from the bugs. Today I'm wearing them to easily traveling through the airports. I like to dress decent (not up, and presentable) when I'm traveling out of respect, and this pair of pants combine the both worlds of comfort and style.

Comfortable,

What brand are your shoes?? i LOVE them!

Gosh, adorable!!! :)

also wondering where your shoes are from!?

For all the other comments asking about the shoes - I recognize them cuz I have them. They are made by Forsake and they are amazing and waterproof. Seriously the best! :)

I read some of the reviews here and looked at some of the photos submitted. The pants seem to fit certain body types. It seems that most of the posts here are from women who are under the age of 40. Also the pants seem to be for younger women. They were OK enough but they are meant to fit a little too snug. I could order a size up and yet I think it won't do the trick. Sometimes when I order a size up the item may fit but then it will fit awkwardly in some area. This style is meant to fit closer to the body. Oh, I can move freely in them. The material stretches. Yet when I bend move my legs a certain way the pants get a bit too tight around the waist and butt. Not the look I am looking for. Also not the feel I am looking for. I would like a pair of pants that feel loose enough and comfortable when I am wearing them for a long time, maybe sitting on a bus or airplane seat on an hours-long trip. When I lift my knees or kneel, the elastic cuffs go up a bit too much and tightens between my ankles and calves. I am short about 5 foot 3 inch ( it seems as I have gotten older, I might have gotten a bit shorter too ) but the length of the pants are still a bit too short. When you bend your legs, the cuffs will ride up a bit too far. . Of course sitting and bending and kneeling means that the legs of the pants will fold in a certain way at the knees and at the seat and the cuffs will go up on your legs to a certain extent. I ordered a size Large/short because often, 32-inch inseams in women's active wear pants are common as if these kinds of pants are meant to fit taller women. So the results were a bit ironic. Maybe it is not precise to say that it "runs small" but it is meant for women who have thinner builds. The fit at the waist is nice enough. I like pants with waists that are low profile. Usually that means pants with elasticized comfort waists . The waist is decent enough and yet the elastic sewn into the waistline is a bit too wide and dense. The material of the pants, though it mainly is lightweight still may be not be breathable enough or light enough for hot weather. I am looking for pants that are really light and breathable and properly designed for hot balmy weather. I will send these back. At least they are not what I need right now. I should say that Backcountry has a great no-hassle return process. I hope they keep it that way.

These pants are awesome!!! I have THE hardest time finding pants that fit because I have a small-ish waist and larger hips/thighs (I'm 5' 6" & 160 lbs). They're super comfy and have the perfect amount of stretch. My only critique is that the thighs are a touch too tight to layer comfortably, so I sized up and they fit great.

I wanted camp, work, hike, shop pants that were somewhat slim fit, but just barely baggier than jeans. These are awesome. I love the material, the length is great (I'm sorta tall), and they frame my butt better than I expected. The zipper back pocket is a plus I wasn't expecting. The overall design and structure is better than all the other (5) jogger pants I tried on.

Great All-Around Pants

I bought these photos for my wife, so the review below is from her: These pants are great! They may run slightly small. I typically wear an XS and bought these in a small and they fit well. They're perfect for lounging and walking around town. I haven't had a chance to wear them on a hike. They're very comfortable and flattering.

I wanted to love these pants. The material is soft but a little swishy sounding when you walk. Very flexible, moves great, and could be great for all types of activity. But the strangest thing, and the reason I can’t consider keeping them, is the little pleats on the front. These pants were just a touch baggy on me but the next size down would have been too tight on my hips, and those darn pleats just framed my crotch in the strangest way. Definitely draws attention to that area. So incredibly unflattering.

the smallest size many other brands offer is extra small, which is sometimes a bit too loose for my liking, like Notion SP pant from Black Diamond that I absolutely love. so when Backcountry on the go pant offers XXS, I immediately put one in the cart, along with an XS just in case I cant fit in XXS. As it turns on, fitting of XS is very similar to that from Black Diamond Notion SP, loose and baggy in hip and thigh areas, but not without swag. But then to my surprise, XXS seems two size smaller than XS. they cling on my butt and legs, thus creating stretching lines down under in the back, that you know is the result of a size too small. maybe I can straighten them after I naturally put them on. the waist band also creates handle. there seems to be one size missing in between. I decide keeping both, hoping XXS will stretch a bit, then it'll be a fine fit.
