    Sleep easy.

Get a good night's rest, rain or shine, with the Backcountry Montana 20 Degree Sleeping Bag. Filled with synthetic insulation, you might gain a few ounces and larger stuff size, but you also gain the peace of mind that sudden rain showers won't ruin a warm night. Toss it in the back of your car or take it on a river trip and come evening you'll have a toasty mummy-shaped bag to make your nights a little softer. The draft collar cinches down for extra cozy comfort on colder trips, but you can still enjoy some snag-free ventilation with the full-length zipper when you need a cool-off.

    Bag was okay

Pros: Light, comfy, easy to pack on the run
Cons: Even for 35-40 degree nights, it didn't protect against the chill of night (Need inside liner even though it says it will cover up to 20 degrees)
zipper is not super great, always catches the inside of the bag

      Pretty good

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Brought this sleeping bag with me to Japan for an RV ski trip. It worked out pretty well, one night the temps dipped below 15 degrees and it kept me pretty warm. The hardest part was leaving the sleeping bag in the morning to go skiing.

      Super comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only busted this out of the packaging and laid in it for a bit, but it seems like it's gonna be able to put in some work when needed! From what I can tell, good bag for a good price!

      Great bag

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this bag as a last minute buy for a camping trip to Colorado in the fall. Overnight temps were forecasted to be in the 30s. I used the bag in a tent with a sleeping mat and it kept me warm; however the temps did not drop below the mid 40s that night. On other nights I used it for car camping and at one point the temps dropped to the mid 20s. I never got cold! I slept in a t shirt and comfy pants most of the time and was comfortable. While I’m new to backpacking, this bag does seem heavier for that type of use, but does great for my first sleeping bag. Great for car camping!!! The zipper does catch easily if you’re not careful, but it’s a quality product in my opinion. I will continue to use the bag and see how well it holds up!

      Simple, good functionality, great value

I own one of those super down bags that keep you warm in all sorts of temps. Great comfy bag, but when the condensation starts lingering around at night, the bag turns into a wet lump of feathers. I purchased this bag as an inexpensive synthetic option for the spring / summer / fall for camping in the Pacific Northwest and it held up beautifully in some pretty damp conditions. Claims 20 degrees as the temp rating - I slept in ~40 degrees with fleece sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and a hat (with no socks) and I was super comfortable. It could probably handle 20 degrees but I'd plan on wearing a thin puffy jacket layer under the covers at that point.

Great value at a fantastic price!

My favorite part is the internal stash pocket for me to keep my phone. I also love that this cinches down great around the face and you don't have to fight to keep your face warm. I think it's a pretty true temperature rating, but I sleep in tons of clothes since I tend to sleep cold. I also love liners, so that adds warmth. I think Backcountry did a great job with the color. The only downside I would say is the zipper. I find it catches pretty easily and it can be a struggle to get out of the bag if you're impatient.
