Versatility is key, and we like to don our Hybrid Grid Fleece Pullover for everything from pre-dawn ice climbs to all-day autumn trails. The hybrid construction uses a mix of grid and hard fleece to create warmth where you want it and breathability where you need it, with plenty of stretch for pole-planting, boulder-scrambling, or that next handhold. Its grid-fleece lining creates natural pockets of air that both trap warmth and draw moisture away from the skin, keeping us dry and comfortable as we move.

Almost there
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- XS

To start I LOVE the two different fleeces and their placement. Everything that you see on the jacket that is a solid color (chest, top of arms) is a nice thin velvety fleece, and every that is heather/mottled (back, hood, bottom of arms) is grid fleece. The reason I did not like this jacket and ended up returning is the sizing and the neckline. The neck on me is tight and claustrophobic, and the side zipper is awkward. It's really tall and tight and looks awkward both when zipped up and zipped down. The hood is a tight fitting style, when up the hood and neck fit close to the skin. The sizing is true to size if you want just a tank top or tight fitting shirt under, but I would need to size up to fit any long sleeve under comfortably. Even with just a tank top the shoulders felt awkward and restrictive even though they weren't skin tight. For reference I am NOT curvy in any way, bust, waist or hips. If anyone's interested the XS weighed 9.4oz (with tag).

Great for running

I was looking for a slightly warmer running jacket for sub-freezing winter runs but couldn?t seem to find the right thing. I settled on this jacket as I love the hood feature, the off-centered zip, and the chest pocket. It fits snugly and is cut nicely. It?s warmer than I thought it would be and has worked well over other base layers as well as under a windbreaker for long winter runs. It?s also great over a t-shirt or tank for chilly springtime runs. Overall, I?m surprised by how much I like it! It?s super cozy and I enjoy wearing it casually as well. It?s one of my go-to pieces of running gear right now.

Many features to love

Overall, I am very pleased with this fleece. The cut is flattering and feminine, and it's long enough that it won't ride up under additional layers or your pack. It is lighter than the Patagonia R1 hoody and is a perfect active midlayer for vigorous hikes. However, its zippered chest pocket is too small to carry much of anything. And the zippers themselves are flimsy and unreliable.

Like the other reviewers I scored this layer to supplement my Patagonia R1. Why does Patagonia think women don't want hoods? Anyway... This layer is awesome! It's a great weight for layering. It's also slightly shorter than my R1 which is ideal for pairing with bibs or harnesses; less bunching on the bottom. I've even gotten some complements!!

Overall happy with this hoodie

Very well made and great looking hoodie. I anticipated it to be a little heavier so I was disappointed in how light it was bc I prefer to run with 1 layer which would be the hoodie. Love the thumb holes but also wish it had more zippers for storage. Overall, I love the look and quality of it. I just had higher expectations.

Happy wife, happy life!

Purchased this to replace a Patagonia R1 hoody that's starting to get a little ragged as a gift for my wife and she is very happy with it. We were originally looking for a direct replacement from Patagonia, but they're not currently making the R1 in a pullover hoody version. Their loss, my wife's gain, as she says she prefers the zip configuration on this and the non-waffle fleece front panel. She's only used it a handful of times so far, but we don't anticipate any issues and look forward to putting t through the wringer.

I love this thing. I received it for free from Backcountry and was unsure of it since it's a size Medium and I typically wear a Small in tops. Although it fits like a Medium, so a little large on me, it doesn't get in the way during activity or feel especially bulky. It keeps me warm yet remains breathable so I don't get overheated during activity. I’ve worn this on cold weather hikes and trail runs, and also while climbing in cooler weather. I actually love this pullover so much that I'm ordering one in a size Small for a more streamlined fit for my trail runs! My measurements are 34A bust and 27.5" waist, so the Small will fit just right! UPDATE** Bought the Small in this pullover, and it fits perfectly! I'm giving the Medium to my dad's gf who it fit really well. She typically wears mediums in tops.

My Cold Winter Run Hoody

I love this fleece! I use it for my winter runs and it's perfect! I am a size 10 and got a medium because I like it to be fitted, but a large would have been fine as well. Love the thumb holes and side zip! Hood stays on while I run when I have it fully zipped up. I recommend this fleece for an extra warm base layer for any sport!

Bought this baselayer for skiing, but I've started using it for fall biking and wearing around the house. It breathes amazingly well, is very easy to move in, and is about as stylish as baselayers come! LOVE the off-center zip and the fact that there's a helmet I can squeeze under or over a helmet.

Hi, this is Emily and I work on the Backcountry brand product development team. I am writing this review today to help guide your sizing decision on this new product. My measurements are: 5'4" Tall Size 4, or on the larger size of S in bottoms The larger side of S for tops bust 34 B. This year we made some updates to the Grid Fleece, it is now lighter weight and more versatile. This will be a go-to for cold-weather layering this year. This fits very well. I wear a S in this layer and it fits snug but not too tight. I love the length as well as it extends into my mid-hip!
