Why We Built The Flagstaff Merino Bottom

We built the Flagstaff Merino Bottoms to cater to the indecisive winter sports enthusiast, who can be found participating in any given activity. This wool baselayer features ventilated panels for high output activities like Nordic skating, snowshoeing in Grizzly Gulch, or trail running between seasons. Thanks to the secure-fitting elastic waistband and athletic cut, these bottoms are also great for more dynamic disciplines like ski touring or fat-biking.

Better than my smart wools!

This base layer is great. They are stretchy and comfy and easy to move in. Unlike other reviewers, I like the crotch design and think it allows more freedom of movement. Other base layers can start to "walk down" and then tear when you try to squat. Not these! I do agree that the waist is too high, but I flip it over, and it's fine. They are not itchy and I am super sensitive to itchy. They are thick enough not to show my undies if I need to strip down, unlike my smart wools. So more a medium than light weight. And for the price, you truly cannot beat them. I am 5'7', weigh 140 with an athletic build and take the xs/s size. Truly though, fix the sizing.... offer them in XS-XXL like any normal sizes, make the waist a 9-10 inch rise and offer in lots of colors from neutrals to black (because yes, that is what women want, even athletic ones) and these would be perfecto!!

Not a fan, I have no doubt they would be warm but the fit was off. They were short but also loose. Sent them back.

Good quality, awkward fit

I wanted to love these! The pricing was good and the quality seemed great. I'm sure performance wise they would have done the job. Unfortunately I found that they had a really awkward crotch. Instead of a normal seam in the crotch area it has this weird circular seam that is pretty uncomfortable. They are also super high-rise (they reached the bottom of my bra!), which I suppose could be a good thing if that's your preference.
