Say goodbye to sweat in your eyes

We're all in the sweaty skull crowd. After all, the perspiration has to go somewhere. The only debate is how we deal with it. Plenty of us understand the appeal of a cotton cycling cap, but it has its limitations -- the brim is hard to fit under the helmet, and the cotton stays damp after absorbing moisture. When you have to deal with sweat, take a good look at the roboFoil Cap from Assos.

It's a cap designed for both the modern age and modern helmets. It's an ultralight cap made from two different synthetic materials. The cap features an ultra-thin design with taped seams to both minimize volume and to guarantee that the cap won't create any pressure points on the skin. Overall, the construction makes the roboFoil easy and pleasurable to wear under your helmet.

The two bands down the middle of the roboFoil are the lightweight, wicking SPX fabric. The side panels create ventilation, which is why they're made with a wicking polyester mesh.

The Assos roboFoil Cap is available in the color White Panther. Sizes are Assos-specific -- 0, I, and II. Size 0 fits 48-53cm head, Size I fits 53-58cm heads, and Size II fits 58-63cm heads.

    Finally a cap that works

I ride in Florida and sweat profusely from my head. I hated sweat pouring in my eyes and have tried every product out there (headsweats, Sweathog, etal) and most would work for awhile, get saturated and then the sweat would start again.
This cap will trap some sweat and when saturated directs it past your eyes. It allows you to block the sun off your head without increasing the amount of sweat in your eyes.
It comes with Assoss pricing but is well worth it. I just ordered another.

    Well thought out, works great!

I have several summer caps and while not the least expensive, the Robofoil is the most comfortable. Assos knows how to make things fit and this is no exception. The way it arches up over the ears prevents bunching up between the helmet strap and the top of the ears. The highly vented sides and more solid top section help prevent sunburn and vent out at the same time. Definitely worth the premium price!

My go to for warm rides.

    • Fit: True to size

First I will say that I sweat a lot. I mean, a lot. Sweat dripping down into my eyes can be a major issue. I was use to ride old school with cotton bandanas. Go figure. On a hot day while it has greatly reduced sweat running down onto my glasses or in my face, I still get a little sweat dripping down. Is a vast improvement though. I will buy another.

    Okay, but could be better.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I need a skull cap for two things: Keep the sweat out of my eyes and keep the UV rays off of my head. I thought this Assos roboFoil cap with its 50+SPF material was just what I was looking for except for the fact that it does not cover the tops of my ears. In actual use on some 100 degree days here in the Santa Cruz, CA mountains about 2-3 hours into my rides I'd get sweat stinging my eyes. Not that big a deal unless I accidentally wipe some sunscreen into my eyes while trying to clear the sweat! I also don't like the placement of their logo button as my helmet rests against it. It gives me an uncomfortable "third eye" on my forehead. Why not move that logo button in front of one of the ears?
I bought two and I'm sure they'll work fine for me 80% of the time but I'll also be buying replacements for my threadbare Bontrager SPF skullcaps for the really hot days.

    Yes!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've never got great use out of my Oakley glasses - they always end up sweat stained through the ride when things get down and dirty. A cap (I like the Rapha ones) seemed to hold back the sweat a bit.

Used it last weekend including a 17km mountain ascent - I still wasn't dripping by the top!

After 5 hours it was still wicking, very impressive.

    love it

I got this hat while ago , and since day one , I loved it ! I wear it all year long , from cold spring tru late fall. It is very cool addition . If you , like me , like long rides , what I found out is , that , helmet with this hat feels very comfortable. Feels like , u not actually wearing a helmet. It protects your head from sun , wind , light rain , and of course , very stylish. Very durable. Easy to wash.

    love it

Recently got this beanie, and am really liking it. The stitching doesn't seem to bother me (I was afraid it would), but the little LOGO BUTTON in front did! My helmet presses against it and is uncomfortable. SO? I just wear it backwards. Problem solved.

I have no idea how this works, but I've been wearing it in VERY hot weather, and I take it off and somehow my hair is DRY where the beanie was, and wet around the edges. Amazing. Finally found the solution to helmet head!
