Lighter than the typical Italian hiking boot, the Asolo Eldo Mid GV Hiking Boot is a mid-cut approach shoe that's made for technical approaches and day hikes with heaps of rock scrambling. This mid-cut provides more protection than the standard low-cut and adds a GORE-TEX membrane for durable and breathable waterproofing for soggy trails and snowpack. It excels on rocky terrain with grippy Vibram outsoles and a polyurethane rand adding foot protection and grip for technical terrain and more climb-oriented moves on the mountainside.

So far so good!!!

I got these a few weeks ago and so far so good!! Very comfortable while hiking! I like that they stay snug when you first lace them up, unlike others that are more difficult to pull tight! The only downside that I see so far is that the laces are way way way too long! Haven’t tested the waterproofness yet so I can’t comment on that, but with the wintry sloppy Ohio weather coming I’m sure I’ll put it to the test! I would recommend these! I wear a 9 shoe and purchased the size 9 boots and they’re pretty much true to size, no need to go up or down in size! Hope this helps!!

Great step up from trail shoes

Backpacking with trail runners never worked for me. I like a little off trail usually and my feet always got hammered and blistered. The Asolo Eldo Mids are just enough additional support to work for me. They only weigh a few ounces more than a pair of trail runners. They are shaped with a long enough toebix that I don’t bash my toes on long downhills. So far I’ve done several day hikes, a backpacking trip with a bit of boulder hopping and a 65mi section of the PCT in Washington state. They are holding up well.

TERRIBLE HIKING BOOT

I purchased these hiking boots a month ago and have used them multiple times on day hikes on a well maintained moderately steep trail which has several segments with uneven ledge surfaces. While these boots are light weight, I feel that rigidity of the sole and ankle support were significantly compromised. I wish I could return these boots as I am completely disappointed with them.
