Outsole peeling off at 70 miles

I was really enjoying these but they're starting to fall apart at only 70 miles. Such a shame since I was able to put over 300 on the torin 5.

Altra discontinued the wide toe box Torin 6: Torin 7 narrow.

Salesperson says Altra no longer makes the Torin 6. Got Torin 7 and its a whole different last/ narrower toe box- NOT an Altra. Whole reason I seek out Altra is the big toe box running shoe. Torin 6 is now just like Nike for people with narrow feet or people who dont run long distances with normal feet.

Last Altra's, shame on me

Bought Feb 2023; my last hope for staying Altra; and less than 10mi/wk of light road running, in June, tread started peeling (i.e. < 100mi including wearing to the office desk job). Superior 4 is the last good shoe I remember. After Superior 4.5s, toe box kept getting narrower and tighter. Switched to Escalante 2.5s to chase the natural fit but had to size up .5. They deflated < 200mi, picked up shin splints. Torin 6 = worst. Altra new models w/"original style" toe boxes are now mystifyingly tight across the top = stress fractures. I had hoped the Altra buyout would lead to more consistent fit for each model, better QA/QC, and lower prices from all the benefits of a bigger company in a competitive market, but the empirical evidence suggests less complicated designs (e.g lace holes used to have cinching properties that integrated with structure of the fit as well as the one-sided tongue -they were not moving a mm after they were tied), less durable materials, and disproportional price increases. I get big box retail wanting to push a trend of zero drop and roomier toe box than a Nike, but I'm shocked running stores are still stocking Altra. I don't mean to sound arrogant or man-splaining in what I wrote; it's just a big disappointment to resonate with a company that you feel understands what you need only to lose it after 8 years and start from square one with this crazy expensive trial and error process of finding the right shoe.

I wouldn't buy this

The shoes fits right and is responsive, the only issue I had it with it is it got too hot in my feet. By the end of the 4 miles run my feet were burning.

They don't last

I have the wides because Altra doesn't make these in the original foot shape. The soles of the shoes feel like flat tires after about 175 miles - and I have yet to have a pair make it past 250 miles without the fabric ripping where it meets the sole.

Loving them. My new daily running shoes

It is nice to have a pair of running shoes that feel great and help my feet get stronger. My Torin 6s have become my most reliable running shoes. I use these for everything from 5 miles to half marathons!

Good shoe but colorways are a snooze.

I own Torin 6 in wide and normal width. Both are great and have held up so far. Altra needs to mix up the midsole colors. The usual white midsole is BORING! FWD EXPERIENCE midsoles - A+. Torin 7- F

Time to move on I guess...

This is my 6th pair of Torins..and likely my last. I dont understand companies obsession with "improving" great shoes. Cheap tongue cuts into ankle, heal support rubs ankle. Flimsy and uncomfortable, they changed everything that was good about the original

I wouldn't buy this product again.

I haven't even worn the shoe yet and when unboxing them the stitching was already torn apart. There's multiple comments concerning the shoes durability or lack there of and it shows from the start.

Not as true to size as previous Torin models

Ended up purchasing 2 pairs of the 6's, during Altra's Labor Day sale. All of my Altras are size 10 (Lone Peak 4.5/6, Torin 4.5 plush, escalante 2.5) so I bought a size 10 and they fit great. Now the Torin 6's are a different story, not only do they feel a 1/2 size smaller, but definitely narrower in the mid foot. I had a pair of Altra Outroads. I had to return them because they felt a full size smaller. Wish Altra would make a custom shop where one can order older models. Anyways just order a 1/2 size up. Still going to use the 6's though I'll just have to try them on at an actual store before ordering online.
