Perfect Lightweight Trail Runner Minus the Outsole
Probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn next to my old pair of Timp 1.5s. I've run through snow, ice, mud, scrambled, climbed, and generally abused them for months now and the construction seems to be holding better for me than for others. My only complaint is that the outsole has worn down remarkably fast, especially considering they stay on natural surfaces 80% of the time. The lugs have lost a good bit of material and are generally super smoothed over. Definitely makes me lose confidence on steep technical descents and scrambling, and I've had some close calls with slips. This shoe with a beefier outsole would be the perfect shoe!

The best running shoe
One pair lasts me an entire year. I love everything about these shoes! Thank you Altra

Good (not great) ground feel...that's about it
I enjoy the ground feel, but that's about it. Horrible traction on almost any terrain (ESPECIALLY wet). Maybe if you just do rail trails, they can be somewhat good, although even on almost any downhill I lack a lot of confidence. And that's also assuming they don't rip on you - Had them for about 2 weeks/25 miles and they are already ripping at the sole (see pic). As a running shoe (let alone a TRAIL running shoe) that is SUPER unacceptable. I used to love the lone peaks and altra quality of even five years ago, but sadly it seems like they are starting to use really cheap parts and bad construction. I would definitely look elsewhere for running shoes, especially at this price tag. Altra, it's sad to see you starting to lack that quality that we all used to love.

Find Old, Used Altras Instead
Altras used to be the best shoes for formerly minimal runners out there. They were wide, flexible, and zero drop. Now they're still the latter but otherwise generic running shoes, which many other brands do far better. They're too stiff, too narrow generally, and especially too narrow in the toe box. I hate every run in these and I feel like I've been conned into buying them.

Great feel but problems with durability
I hike for my work, averaging 80 miles a month in the busy season with a 50+ pound backpack. I like these shoes because they are very lightweight, dry quickly, and have a good shape (roomy but not sloppy). Zero drop is nice and I don't like the squish of lone peaks or other trail runners. I wish they were more durable. Less than 300 miles in sole is delaminating and the upper is tearing where in meets the sole on the outside edge of both shoes, about where the laces end. This version seems to hold odor more tenaciously than previous versions of the superior, which I find mysterious.

Perfect all purpose zero drop shoe
Might be close to the perfect cross training/light trail running shoe. Love the zero drop and it's very hard to find that in a good, light and well balanced comfortable shoe. I've run everything from Merrell Vapor Gloves (minimalist) to Go Ruck cross trainers (ok but not enough toe box room and too much drop and also less cushion/comfort), On Cloud (just terrible, worst I've ever owned for anything outdoors), and about every Brooks trail runner out there (no zero drop, tighter toe boxes. I use these for lifting, hiking/light trail running, golf, and general purpose all day shoes. If they are remotely durable for a year I will be super impressed but I haven't had them long enough to review durability. I did like the first pair so much I bought 2 more backups because they are so perfect in fit/feel/comfort for my uses.

Great but didn't last long
Bought 2 months ago, put less then 100miles of gym and hiking time on them and the outer sol is ripped at the seem, disappointed because they fit and worked great.

I forget I have them on.
These are amazing. I would wear them road running if I were afraid of wearing them out too fast. They are sized about 1/2 size too small, but this is a known issue and I went up a size when I bought them. They are perfect. Low to the ground, grippy, perfectly padded...but not overly so. Very light as well. I forget I have them on.

Sent back
I had the superior 3, which I loved. This one has the upper inner tongue is stitched---you cannot move it. Made that area of my feet hurt. Also cheaply made
