Altra's newest edition of their stability road shoe is as unique and innovative as it's ever been. Unlike traditional support shoes, which provide constant unwavering support, this shoe delivers support only when you need it, making it a great option for runners who only pronate sometimes, or pronate only moderately when they do. Thanks to a combination of a flexible Guide Rail by the heel and a series of midfoot straps that wrap underneath the arch, you'll have a support system that's only engaged when your foot starts to fall inwards, allowing you to have a neutral, unobtrusive feel when you don't need the support.

very small

I normally wear a size 7.5 but these things run super small. I already returned them for a size 8. Wide toe box? My toes are squished and my feet are hanging off the side. Ive been wearing barefoot shoes for a while now and needed some cushion for pavement running. I am sorely disappointed. If only there was a store in my area that I could try them on at instead of constant shipping and waiting.

I?ve been a die hard hoka running shoe fan for 6 years but due to constantly revolving styles I decided to switch it up, and wanted a little less of a clunky of a shoe. I LOVE the wider toe box, from a physical therapy standpoint it is astounding how many shoes narrow towards the toes contributing to bunyions, but from a comfort level these were just amazing.. they run a little big, I?m often a 9 but those were too big, the 8.5 was perfect. I?ll be buying more Altra?s for sure!

These weren't go to's but not anymore
I have issues with my feet; provisions worked well for me. But not the 4's. I was sorely disappointed with them. Laces are difficult to adjust. There is nothing to secure the tongue so it constantly slides. My heels are always slipping out of the shoe. After only a short time, holes are developing from my toes. I wanted to like them but I will not be purchasing this model again, not unless they bring back what was tried and true.

Would buy again
Shoe fits & feels true to size. Only complaint is that the tongue is not attached inside shoe & has no place to run laces through on top so it moves a lot even during a short run.

Fourth time buying altra running shoes. My very favorite!
I thought my running days were coming to an end because my bunions hurt so much during and after a run...then found Altria's wide tie box and pain is gone. So happy.

I would not buy this shoe again
The new way they have of lacing the shoe is very uncomfortable and places a pressure against the foot. The shoe does not feel wide at all , very awkward, uncomfortable fit !! I have owned several pair of Altras, they missed the Mark with these.

Need more time to decide
I've been a devoted Altra Superior fan for years, decided to try a style with a little more cushioning. The provision 14 certainly are but there's a couple of design/cosmetic issues. The eyelets on one shoe are almost completely hidden and the fabric bows out and is very stiff compared to the opposite foot. The heel has some beefy padding on the insides which gave me blisters on my first 5 mile run, possibly after they compress a little they might be better. The superiors have always been great out of the box. Unfortunately I don't have the box for these otherwise I'd exchange them.

I had one pair and bought 2 more!
I have somewhat wide feet and usually wear an 8.5, which is perfect in these shoes. I also have fairly flat feet and slightly pronate. I mostly run, and bought 2 more pairs for CG training.

Coral pieces on sole coming loose
These are my first Altas and I have mixed feelings about this model. The good: the cushioning is very comfortable and the arch support is great when I go out for my one-mile run. No shin splints! The bad: the toe box is a little narrow and is bothering one of my toes. The quirky lacing system is hard to get used to - I find myself pulling on the wrong lace to tighten them. The worst: the soles keep catching on rugs while I'm standing around. Now I realize that the "catching" was actually the coral part of the sole coming loose on the outside. Is there a glue I can use to reattach the pieces before they completely detach? Otherwise the soles are in great condition, hardly worn at all after wearing them mostly indoors over the winter. My friend raves about her Altra trail shoes, but I wouldn't recommend this model.
