Why We Like The ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Awning
Camping or just out for a picnic, the Alps Mountaineering Tri-Awning is a must-have for fun days in the sun. This awning features a three-pole aluminum construction and is easy to put up and take down. The awning is adjustable in height and comes with fabric sun shields that allow you to customize your airflow and sun protection. Six hang loops can hold our accessories, and a light loop allows us to hang a light for when the party continues into the night.

Nice but….

I had a long weekend with this and here are some thoughts… Pretty easy to set up and take down. Pretty tall once up. Comes with only one side panel but found that to be fine. Like most structures of this kind (think inside a tent) it is very hot inside on a hot day- so while it might shield you from direct sunlight… you’ll will not be enjoying the coolness of the shade it provides (it might be warmer). But on the flip side-on a cooler sunny day it could warm you up a bit. Getting it back in the bag it came in? I’m skeptical it can be done. It’s nice though-feels quality. I’m hoping I can problem solve the heat issue a bit to make it a better fit for summer-but ultimately its niche may be spring and fall.

Details matter
Product pictured has two of the side panels/shields. Text description describes "panels" and 'Why we like ...' also mentions these "shield" (now the plurals). Mine was received yesterday, setup today, ONLY ONE PANEL. Either not an accurate product description, in 3 places, or I was shortchanged. I'll call Backcountry on Monday to see if they make it right and update this review if so.

The silhouette awning was super easy to put up. A little bit of a learning curve, taking down, but overall it a simple sturdy design. I especially like the versatility of the side panels being able to use them as needed. The size is large enough to fit over a picnic table.
