Why We Like The Sturmfist 4 Finger Glove

With headquarters in Minnesota, 45NRTH knows it's not always mild and sunny winter weather out there. So, when we're set on logging countless miles through the winter, we prepare ourselves by pulling on our winter kit and the Sturmfist 4 Finger Glove. It delivers comfort and dexterity by using superior fabrics and insulation technologies. A water-resistant goat leather palm is supple and grippy for purchase over our bars, and the Merino wool liner naturally fights that clammy feel we aim to avoid.

My finger are finally warm

I have tried a number of solutions from Pearl Izumi's P.R.O AmFib to Hestra Heli Gloves to Pogies. None of them worked well for me. The Pogies kept my hands warm, but I ride several different bikes and moving them around was a pain, so I would wind up riding without them hoping it wouldn't be to bad. The sturmfist keeps my whole hand warm even my index finger and thumb pad, which were always the coldest. The AmFib's work well for me (finger tip pads aren't cold) above about 35 degrees, but if I get at all sweaty and have to take the gloves off they are very hard to get back on as the interior starts to slide out. I have not had any indication of this with the Sturmfist. They are easy to get on and off even if my there is some sweat. I've put in about 20 hours in the backcountry with them and there is no sign of wear. I am hopeful that these will last for years. They are a little on the large size, but I think that might be why they work so well. I can wear a pair of regular cold weather gloves inside them. Maybe when it gets below 0.
